Where did Santa used to leave your presents?

Well, as the title says... where were your gifts from Santa left when you woke up on Christmas morning?

Mine were always at the end of my bed. Also, IIRC they were never wrapped. I know some people got theirs wrapped.

The O/H told me that hers were always downstairs in the sitting room, herself and her sister (the only 2 kids) had a designated corner of the room each!

Downstairs under the tree. I asked every year to have them at the end of my bed but it never happened. As a Dad I can certainly see why; the risk of being caught is far too great. All it takes is one to wake up and Santa disappears FOREVERRRRRRR!

Half way up the chimney. Apparently, sending us up after them was a cheap way to get it cleaned.

More commonly in the living room though.

Under the tree - or close by at least. Gotthem at the end of the bed one year and it wasn't the same. Ours were never wrapped - sure Santa is WAAAY to busy to be wrapping all those presents.

Stocking and something small at the end of the bed, so that we'd stay in our rooms as late as possible, then the bigger gifts downstairs under the tree. And no, never had anything wrapped until we were out of the Santa period.

My OH wraps the kids' presents and I've no idea why. Like, the whole of christmas morning is a surprise. Waking up, remembering it's Christmas, emptying the stocking and then remembering the big stuff was downstairs.

    Then you run downstairs at full tilt only to find some sadist has put another barrier in the way i.e. paper wrapping. I can honestly say I never though less of Santa because he didn't take the time to neatly wrap my presents;

    "I say, that's rather a cheek, isn't it? He's left them unwrapped"

ours used to be left in the living room under/near the tree. we used to have our christmas stockings left at the end of beds. have no idea how we didn't wake up!!

now, we have our santa presents left at our bedroom doors!! yes, i did say now. my sister is 33 and getting married in April, and I am 29!! My mother loves it, leavng the presents and having the "magic" in the house!!

Under the tree, as we got older we were assigned armchairs and our gfts were usually there instead.

When we were younger our stockings would be hanging off the end of our beds, and our other presents would be in the living room in separate piles for each of us. Door would always be locked and wouldn't be opened until everyone was up and waiting outside to see what Santa left.

I always got (and still do actually) get a stocking at the end of my bed usually containing socks.
Socks which are welcomed every year!!!

The main presents though were always left downstairs under the tree accompanied by a letter from Santa.

Presents were always left on the fireplace beside the Tree, and always wrapped sure thats half the fun. Unwrapping them and then realising you got that Cheeky Girls CD you wanted.

mine and my sisters were always in the livingroom.....everything spread out on the sofa/ armchairs.
one year i got a BMX, it was in the kitchen, and i knew santa had brought it in the back door from the garge as i found the tire tracks from when it was wheeled in!!!! i could never figure out how he got through the back door though as it was locked  it stumps me to this day, he must have been a wonderful man :)

It was usually in the living room or if the item was too big or was going to be later hooked up to a TV ( a SNES ) , in the kitchen.

There was one time when I was very young where Santa left the toys by my crib, one of which was a toy truck with detachable trailer. I was able to remove them but not get them back on and I screamed the house down over it.

I did that more than once that night, according to the parents.

The living room door was locked - it wouldn't have been a way out of the house.

Santa always left mine by the sitting room window every year without fail

I somehow always got offended when he just took 1 bite out of the biscuit (chocolate kimebrly) I left for him he never cleared his plate, when I had been threatened throughout the year that santa wouldn't come to me if I didn't finish my dinner etc yet he was somehow exempt from not finishing his milke and biscuits

With 5 kids in the house Santa always lined up our gifts in the middle of the sitting room. We'd all queue on the stairs and wait for everyone to be up and go in together. I don't think I ever copped that mam had always been down beforehand to get the turkey into the oven :D

Ours were always in the front room near but rarely under the tree. Myself and my sister had our own santa sacks and the presents were wrapped as well which acccording to this thread was something of a rarity. Nothing better than taking one present from the bag, unwrapping it, getting super excited and then remembering there were more in the bag to open.

Our stockings were hung off the handles of the double doors of said front room, they usually went after the big stuff had been opened.

Ah happy times, miss believing in Santa

Under the tree, unwrapped might I add. The fire was never lit on Christmas eve and some soot was always sprinkled on the hearth.

I remember one year, my sister and I got up early to sort out who got what:p

Stockings were always at the end of the bed, presents in the living room although one year the bikes were left in the kitchen.
    And always wrapped

Always in the sitting room, my parents liked us to all be together when we opened our presents. I remember always being told to stay in our rooms til 7, and I'd always go into my brothers' room and we'd all be really excited and try and plot how to get downstairs early :D

The general idea was that they were under the tree but usually there was a bit of an overflow!

And they were always wrapped too, part of the fun was deciding which one to unwrap first!

It's really funny looking back now because my parents HATE wrapping presents with a passion and they had 5 kids and lots of awkward shaped toys! Christmas eve must have been a nightmare :pac:

Naw, parents can have booze. Although the wrapping may have been annoying, I'm sure they enjoyed Christmas-Eve-Sex while you dreamt of Santa Claus. ;)

Theres 3 kids in my family, presents were always in a pile around the tree - Im the middle so my presents were in the middle, and always wrapped - even the bikes & so on were wrapped.

Since Santy left and Im the only one here christmas morning opening my presents mine are left on the chair I usually sit on in the sitting room, I always get extra :D

When we were kids the sitting room door was always locked too and we had to wait until everyone was assembled at the bottom of the stairs and mam would unlock the door and dad always had the video camera out :) its not as much fun with just me opening them now :(

In the living room and myself and my sister have different arm chairs that the presents are on. Santa's presents were normally unwrapped and the presents my mam and dad got us were under the tree wrapped so we knew the difference. The milk would be half gone and so would the cookies and half a carrot for Rudolf and there would be a foot print of soot on the fireplace so it looked like santa was after coming. And the stockings filled with sweets would hang from the mantle piece. Ahh i love Christmas :D

My sister and I saw Santa one Christmas eve actually, when he was filling our stockings, I woke n heard a noise, opened one eye and saw someone in red at the beds, I went back 'asleep' and soon as they were gone I whispered to my sister 'did you see him?' and she had too! That was deadly :D

Santa used to personally deliver our presents to us on Christmas Eve. My Grandad drove him to our house (after calling to our cousins), and Santa would have a big black bag with our presents in it, not wrapped, and we would get our photo taken with him. He could never talk to us though, because he was too drunk from the whiskey he got at our cousins' houses before he got to us!!

We were allowed play with one toy for a little while and leave the rest for the morning.

Christmas morning, we'd find that Santa called AGAIN during the night and gave us Christmas stockings filled with little bits and bobs.

    We were such lucky kids!

    In the sitting room.
Me & my sisters all have a special little corner each where all our presents were stacked and a lovely little name card place on top of each pile :).
I love having a little sister to keep the whole santa tradition going :).

Mine were always left in the sitting room unwrapped! Me and my sis had an arm chair each so they were left on our chairs!

Christmas stockings were hung off the outside handle of our bedroom doors and were always full of the most useful things!

I used to be so afraid going down the stairs in the morning incase Santa was still in the sitting room! I miss all that excitement!

ours started out under our tree in the hall & then when we were older (& there were more kids) they were in the sitting room.

ours were never wrapped, i could never understand why santa wrapped my friends and not mine :(

Santa always left the presents under the tree in our house. Our tree was always in the Living room so the poll should have been multiple choice :D

At the end of our beds in a big football sock, we would stretch them out to make more room for presents :pac: Also in the sitting room in a santa sack, there are 7 kids so it was like a minefield of presents in there :D

    Beside the fireplace, wrapped.

One year my mum messed up and wrapped some of the Santa presents in the same paper as her own presents. An intelligent child, I spotted this, but just delightedly exclaimed "Santa uses the same wrapping paper as us!".

Same in our house, only there's so many kids some of us have places around the room. Mine's over near the TV.

The door gets locked on Christmas eve, otherwise Santa wont come with the toys, then in the morning, everyone lines up youngest to oldest (bah :p) and we go in together. It's great!

Ours were usually left on the fireplace, unwrapped, though one year we had our stockings in our rooms.... My parents decided never again after that :D

Ours were always in the sitting room too

We each had a stocking from America with our names on (so amazing at the time)

These were safety-pinned onto our designated armchairs.

The presents were rarely wrapped although my mam did start putting labels on them after I swopped all the pressies around one year (I wanted the scalectrix NOT the Rainbow Brite doll

Looking forward to Christmas this year though, it's been a mad year and I'm looking forward to another mad one next year!

Ours were put in the sitting room. We each got an armchair of presents! Best bit was always the stocking though - it was so exciting digging down to the bottom to see what we had gotten. And the small trinkets and stuff are the things I still have to this day, not the Big santa presents.

Santa was bloody amazing though! We got a selection box each every year. When we got our presents we had to go into the kitchen and have our breakfast before we were allowed to play with them (seems mean now, but my parents knew we'd just fill up on choccie and sweets!!).

Anyhoo, this one year I realised that Santa had forgotten the selection boxes:(
My mam went out to check on the cat, and when she came back in she said that someone had rang the doorbell. We went out and sure enough, Santa had come back and left the selection boxes on the doorstep!

Don't know how we didn't cop it, we were so gullible!

Most people's trees are in their living room. I meant somewhere else in the living room other than under the tree with that option!

Always in the sitting room and me and brother, even now 25 and 20, we have to wait for my mam and dad to open them all together..

Guess they still see us as their little kids on xmas morning..:D

This thread has made me feel all lovely and christmassy... I wish I still believed!!

There was 4 of us, so the two oldest got an armchair each and the youngest two got an end of the couch each. Not wrapped... apparently "Santa wouldnt have time"... and my mum would not like the cleaning up, conveniently enough! ;)

First year not at home on christmas morning, so me and my hubbie are doing a stocking for each other and opening them together on christmas morning in the sitting room in our pj's. Cant wait! :D

I'm 27 and we're still led into the living room one by one with mam/dad's hands over our eyes and placed in front of our designated pressie pile...I love Christmas morning! :D The day that tradition ends Christmas will die for me :(

    On the sofa. No wrapping.

And we only got to open the presents under the tree after Dinner had been eaten and the dishes were washed, still to this day. Wouldn't have it any other way.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,300 ✭✭✭nice1franko

Was the end of the bed until we start setting traps for him (nothing lethal, just thread and bells so we could see him). Then it was the sitting room and we (6 of us) had a pile on the floor or the couch or whatever. No wrapping either. Ah... good times. Our lives revolved around Christmas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

Ours weren't wrapped either, so much effort! There are 4 of us and we had a 3-2-1 suite of couches in our living room, so there'd be 2 sets of presents on the big couch, one on the small couch and one on the armchair. The stockings were in the piles too....well we didn't have stockings in them days, we just had the biggest socks we could find in the house (usually my brother's!) I used to label all the socks with our names and ages just in case Santa forgot! My mam also used to throw a bit of soot around to make it look like Santy had been.

I'm the youngest and even after I started believing, my mam still did Santa every year. My mam said no stockings this year though, we're too old :( (I'm 24!)

Really similar to this, but with five. Ours wern't wrapped and we all have a certain section on the chairs where our presents always went, so the presents aren't labelled. And everything went on those chairs.

Oh and one of my sisters is 25 but she still gets santa presents! :pac:
