Not sure if this is the right place to post, but here goes! Found some old money, 20p, 5p, pennies, etc. Id say there could be about £20 there, Ive heard you can bring it to the central bank, is that just to dispose of, or will they change it to euro for you?? Any advice would be great.
    Thanks :)

You can exchange it for Euro at the central bank. More info here.

Moved to Banking & Insurance & Pensions. Thread titled edited for clarity

AFAIK, the Central Bank will exchange old currency to Euro.

Central Bank, Dame street is the only place you can exchange it.

Though if you're in Carlow, we're running a new for old promotion and taking old Irish money in exchange for goods in the store at the full 1.27 exchange - special days on Tullow st.

For everyone's info - if you have some random old european currency like deutschmarks or francs, you can post it to the respective central bank and they will wire transfer the euro amount to your account.

I did this DM100 I found lying around. The charges are minimal.

However, they don't accept coins but anyway, the cost of posting coins would be prohibitive.
