Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

PC not turning on. Help!

    The last few days when i have gone to turn on my PC all it does is make a beeping sound every 5 seconds or so and the it sounds like the disk drive is spinning....but does nothing more or maybe its the fan i'm not sure.
    Nothing comes up on screen, i don't get the option to start in safe mode
    It's a Compaq too by the way

    anybody have any ideas whats wrong with it? or any way to fix it?

    all my college stuff is stored on it and my music collection which ironically enough i was just about to transfer to an external source:(

    Hmm, could be a no. of things.

    Open her up and try taking out / swap the RAM sticks around. Or try only 1 RAM stick (assuming you have 2).

    Try taking out and putting back in your Graphics Card.

    See how you go from there.

    sounds like it is graphics card, and considering it compaq qhich is hp, its more than likely the graphics card. Generally the hard drive fan wouldnt run if memory was un seated.

    Does it beep once, pause for 5 seconds, beep, pause for 5 seconds. over and over again??

    ya...over and over. it never stops beeping

    My computer hAdthe same problem until I got the graphics card replaced. But now it's happening again. Could it be the graphics card again?
