Statement From EVO Organisers:
The Evolution Championship Series represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world. Evo events bring together the best of the best from around the world in a dazzling exhibition of skill and fun, as players and fans gather to honor the competitive spirit in an open format and determine a champion.

Much is to be unveiled but at least there is a date to mark in the calendar. The games to be featured and main tournament sponsors are yet to be announced but all will be revealed in due course.

Just because its at Caesar's Palace doesn't mean you have to stay there!

You'd be surprised how cheap hotel rooms in Vegas are. The hotels make their money on the gambling not on the hotel suites. You probably wouldn't pay more than 25 dollars a night and it could even be less.

was checking there site its about 500 for a room in ceasers palace from the 9th o the 12th thats where i will be staying looks nice

Flights are would be the real expense, hotel rooms in Vegas can be got for next to nothing.

Flights are the only trouble yea... But some airlines such as continental do have cheap'ish flights to america and stitch

Continental arent cheap by any stretch. Over the 2 legs it would be best to fly with Aer Lingus to San Francisco, and then transfer onto Vegas.

Source: I worked with the American bound Aircraft carriers for 2 years.

People in the thread are saying the only thing holding them back is the expenses, so why not start getting onto people and find some sponsorships!

weekend its like $100 or so a night in most hotels, weekdays its cheaper. you could get a motel room for a week between 4 ppl or something and that would only be about $90 or so per person. i reccomend budget suites of america only a 10 minute walk from caesars, well.. 15 and every fast food restaraunt imaginable within 5 mins of it :pac: In-N-Out burger nom nom

• BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger
• The most popular game from a forum poll

The absent games from this list that were featured last year are Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core and Soul Calibur 4.

I assume that the poll will come down to 3s and Mahval. Be interesting to see which wins. My head says 3s but my heart says IT'S MAHVAAL BABEE!

Tatsunoko VS Capcom UAS - I haven't played UAS, but the JP version of this game is **** and has absolutely no scene whatsoever. The "scene" was a bunch of scrubs and wong/marn winning every tourney even though they literally never play the game.
SF HD Remix - I like vanilla ST better but HD Remix is the choice for obvious reasons
"Player's Choice", which will be decided by vote on SRK. - 95% of the people who vote on this aren't even gonna go to Evo (and most marvel players don't really post on srk), so this is gonna end up as like MBAA or some **** (even though that scene is far better/more hype than BBCT, girls only tourney, or TvC)

I personally got no problem with a ladies torunament.

It's waaaaay too easy to get mysoganistic over a primarily male pursuit (re: comic con and "scream if twilight ruined comic con" which lead to 30 year old men intimidating teenage girls. Classy).

Even if it's gimmicky, I'd rather they try.

As a side event I'd have no problems with it, but they're sacrificing another main event game spot for it, which is what I find retarded.

edit: Also it's discriminatory! It's like ladies' poker events, what's stopping them from entering the regular tournaments?

To have a girls only tournament ahead of another established game is just ridiculous.

Even if we are all reading it wrong and it's a SSFIV tournament with only girl characters allowed, it still doesn't deserve a place ahead of any other game.

If TvC is the Wii game then they'd probably be better off holding a Smash tournament as it'd probably get more entrants.

Got no problem with those arguments. I DO have a problem with the "Pff, they'll just be some random crap hanger on wimmins with no mad skillz" comments in the post above.

I hope the "scene" doesn't reflect that opinion because it'll make us all look bad.

Numbers-wise it is true too though, marvel or 3s would have a lot more entrants and a much higher quality of play (not being sexist, there are some good female SF4 players - choco comes to mind; however, I don't know of any in America).

again, I'm not saying it shouldn't be further down the pecking list. I'm just saying I am concerned about a vitriolic and mysoganistic backlash similar to those seen in other-basically-nerd based communities when something similar has happened.

Yeah the whole "socal dudes gf" arguement is BS.

But it's a skill game and there is no need to have a female only tournament aside from being able to say stupid stuff like Femme Fatale SF.

Having said this the Ladies of SF tourney they ran in SOCAL had some of the largest attendences of any of the Arcade Infinity tournaments and more people stayed watching the games.

AFAIK there won't be Smash at EVO again. When they ran it (2008?) the various Smash communties were against because they let everything go in EVO and didn't go for any of the restrictions that Smash players like to put on their game.
