    Hi all.

Im writing as I would like some kind of clarity in terms of what is/isnt allowed, more specifically in this thread

    Linky

Now I posted a couple of photos of past benetton ad campaigns and a mod edited my post to remove one pic.I wont bother to link to the "offending" picture because I believe that mods and admins can see deleted/edited posts anyway. For anyone else thats interested just google benetton ads,it was the one with the African woman breast feeding a caucasian child.

I PMed the mod in question and she told me she edited it because nudity is not allowed,a rule which I understand however there is absolutely nothing sexual/pornographic/explicit about the ad,its hardly a photoshoot from FHM or Playboy, its simply an ad that was shot to challange perceptions and I have not doubt stir up a bit of controversy.

There is a warning in the thread title that there are images that may cause distress. The thread is full of photos of dead/dying people, men after being lynched, plague victims, war atrocity victims, bloated corpses etc etc etc but yet 1 bare breast is deemed unsuitable?

I in no way want that thread to be effected as there are some truly amazing and poignant photos in it but it seems very much a double standard that its ok to show a dead soldier being dragged behind a tank but not ok to show a breast*.

*I do mean in the context of this thread and this thread alone by the way.

If you were not happy with the Mods response, did you then contact the CMod and what did they say?

    Hi.

As instructed,I PMed the Rec Cmod,AlmightyCushion on Tuesday but have yet to recieve a response as to my query.

Surely an Admin can give me an answer?

    Hi.

AlmightyCushion got back to me re the above.

He couldnt give me a definitive answer though as he has not seen the pic.

Could an admin make a ruling on this please.

If they cannot see the deleted pic its easy to find using google images.

    Thanks.

I've seen the picture, as you say, it shows a naked boob. If I were reading through that thread while at work and my boss looked over my shoulder at what I was reading - most of the pictures can immediately be seen for what they are. However, when you see a picture of a naked boob - the first thing one will think of is that you are looking at porn. It is therefore NSFW and the thread does not have a NSFW rating.

Rule of thumb is - if there's naked boob in a picture, don't post it on boards.

I agree with Sharpshooter. I would urge you to suggest putting a NSFW tag on the thread maybe, in case this happens again and someone mistakenly posts potentially pornographic images. However, not even on private forums will you be allowed to post images of naked breasts, sorry, I understand your sentiment, but there are broader scopes to keep in mind.

Thanks for the reply Gordon and I fully accept the ruling.

I still however think its kinda hypocritical (not you or the mods BTW,just the rule in general) that its ok to show human beings in various states of decomposition/death but not ok to show 1 breast.

    Still,rules are rules I suppose.

    Cheers!
