Registered mail is not supposed to go missing no more than passengers' luggage in the custody of airlines but it does happen and then the small print and red tape kick in. An Post are probably dealing with lots of these cases from all over the world and until they get information back from abroad they cannot tell the customer in Ireland anything useful.

And this is the problem. People pay for a service and don't get it. Then people say "Oh it happens". This shouldn't happen and if the correct checks where done then it couldn't.

Going OT for a bit, why are airline passengers treated like terrorists and made go through huge amounts of inconvient security to get onto a plane when the bagage handlers are, broad sweep of the brush here, thieving from our bags? Why can't they do the same security in and out of the airport on the bagage handlers as the passengers?

Back to AnPost. People are paying good money for something which is supposed to be trackable. If the post people aren't tracking registered letters correctly they should be disciplined.

It's the it happens attitude that lets people steal other peoples property without risk of getting caught. Where I work we are totally responsible for everything we do and it's all tracked. Noone excepts that it happens, someone or something always causes it and we know who/what soon after it happens as everything is tracked.
