    Hi all,

We are going to have a day in Dublin next Monday. Myself and 9yo daughter. Could anyone recommend anything Christmassy to do? We'll be staying in Ballsbridge Sunday night so can head off early Monday.

Would Hamlys be awkward to get to from there? And is it worth the trip for a browse/atmosphere?

7up on Ice seems pretty pricey for an hour, and the reviews aren't great.

Nice place for lunch needed too.

Would the Museums have anything Festive on? Will have a Google.

    Any advice/recommendations appreciated. :)

P.S. Very tight budget. (Unfortunately, she's been very good this year, so Santas purse is a bit light :D)

Theres Santa's forest in the national show centre, Swords but its a little pricey. i think its 20 quid per child and a tenner for each adult with them.

the show lasts about 40 mins and its a bit gimicky but the kids loved it.,

Maybe something like the Christmas Market in IFSC/Docklands?

There will be market stalls there, but don't think Santas Grotto will be there on the Monday. It is something Christmassy to do, and am sure there will be a great atmosphere too.

I cannot wait to go, and I am 29 :(
just need to find someone to come with me :D

I also second the Moving Crib on Parnell Street. As kids we used to be brought up to Dublin to see the lights, shop and visit the crib, and has stayed with me for years, always try and get to see it over the holiday season.

Can't believe that's still around. We were brought there every xmas,it was as much a part of the xmas tradition as turkey, ham and sprouts!:)

Christmas Market and Moving Crib it is. Both sound great.

The market is close to Connolly Station (I think), so handy for getting the train home too.

    Thanks Dubliners!

Was at the moving crib on Sunday (it's tradition) and it's as good as ever :D

Also the live crib outside the Mansion House on Dawson St was launched today. Really cute with the donkey, goats and lambs.

Number 29 (the Georgian House Museum)might also be worth a visit if you have not already been there.
It costs €6 but children are free!

and what about a visit to the Dolls Store on George's St. I've gone in there with some little ones and they love looking at the dolls houses.
