I have the TX 650W myself it a very nice piece of kit IMO, good quality and dead quiet. The closest HX comes in a 620W model and is modular, also it is an improved design* (©Solitare in the other thread). So I am sure there are small efficency gains and other improvements as well.

Get the HX if you want modular cabling but the TX range will not disappoint if budget is a restraint.

    Actually, Corsair recently released a HX650 with a ultrabeefy single 52A 12v Rail http://www.corsair.com/products/hx650/default.aspx

At least, I hope they did, otherwise I have no Idea wtf I just put in my PC! :pac:

Didn't know that, it makes sense to put out a 650W version, not sure why they picked unusual numbers like 620W in the first place.

Perhaps Corsair pulled an AMD on us (the 620W were dodgy 700W PSUs)? :pac::pac::pac:

Its more than likely a cost driven choice, they can screw enough out of a slightly cheaper structure that they probably use on the TX or lower HX models. By changing the IC or components they can get higher performance but it costs more. I've seen similar things in the electronics industry before! Why lose profit by upping materials!!
OMG I should be on the apprentice :D oh hang on, what would I want with a visit to a salsa bar or facial

Yes, The only reason I decided on the TX 650W over the HX is budget, I had given a max 90 euro for the powersupply and felt the TX would suit my non-overclocking much needs!

Weren't the more recent nVidia drivers disabling physX where ATI cards were doing the rendering though? They may well have reversed this policy in the meantime, I haven't been following it recently.
yeah they did,but theres a nice handy hack to reenable it again :), the latest version works on the 195 drivers, im still on 192 though, works grand with batman with the 8800gt for physx and the ati 5850 for the gfx, no AA though without messing with the vendor id.
