I only got UPC 2 years ago.

got the 6MB ultra so they would throw in the free wireless router.

Ever since they just keep increasing the speed bloody marvelous.

I got up to 20MB then dropped back to 10 to balance the price of a land line.

Now I will be back up to 15 MB

Might save the 10 quid a month and go for the slow speed even with the 40GB limit I am no where near.

Upgraded last night via the form on their website to 30mb. Got an email this evening asking to restart the modem, leave it off for at least 30 seconds, and back on again. Did that, a few times, even leaving it off for over 5 minutes.
No change in speed as of yet anyway.

There's no point me linking the results from speedtest.net, as you can see in my sig, they're a bit strange...

Results from http://www.irishisptest.com/runmyspeed.php show me still receiving the normal 20Mb

Scratch that last post, just checked via Usenext and am getting the full steady 30Mb speeds :p Noice !

Too many issues, too many inconsistent reports. Those who are getting the "full whack" on the 30mb are as rare as white elephants. Jesus. i'd be happy with my 20mb..........consistent.

    One word - CONTENTION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could well be contention for sure yes. I'm in a new small private estate here, in one of only two houses and next door don't have broadband installed so it's just me :pac:

There are other estates not too far from us here and my mother in law has UPC broadband installed also but they too get the full speeds no problem. Maybe they spent a lot upgrading the infrastructure here in Ballymun during the boom times and the regeneration of the area that was in full throttle.

Here is a peak time test yes is well below 30Mb but the package is sold as up to 30Mb and for a peak time connection I think it's pretty good.

Seen tests results on the board for Eircom and I don't think we can really complain.

Took me a lot of running this to get this result, a lot of 15, 19 and 20MB runs.

We are at peak time and the package is up to 30Mb and your 15Mb tests sure beat the hell out of Eircoms up to 7.6Mb.

Turn off the firewall on your cisco router to get rid of that packet loss.

I'm well aware of what time it is, I'm just posting the feedback.

Do you work for them? I've yet to come across someone that defends the company ;)

No I savaged them when I was having problems with an unstable connection I think it was a DNS issue.

The speed running a bit slow at peak does not bother me once I have a nice stable connection for gaming.:)

No log into the router with a wired connection leave the password and user name blank.

    http://www.upc.ie/pdf/4755_UPC_WiFi_Brochure.pdf

    There is the manual.

After 30 minutes get through to nice girl who admits she knows nothing about broadband (which I appreciated her honesty) and will transfer me to second level technician but low and behold there is a problem transferring to the technicians so have to take a call back within the next 48hours :(

You can only log into the setup menus on a wired connection?

That is how my router is anyway I just have a modem I use my own router.

I stand corrected my Belkin router only gives access to it's menus with a wired connection.
