30Mbps Celbridge Area Mon Jan 25th

    This Morning 8:40am

    Early Afternoon At Present 2:25pm

Much better than usual for me.

Its been way slower at this time for me over the last few days - I wonder if there's anything gonig on with UPC regarding configuration changes on their network - maybe I'm way too optimistic - I'll know for sure between 5pm-9pm today. Here's hoping anyway.

Yeah speeds a bit better today so far, but come 5pm we'll know, this is when mine starts to degrade badly

Just got the following reply from Comreg, and unlike what UPC told me they do regulate them!!!

    Hi Tony
    Thank you for your email.
We don’t regulate the TV aspect of the company, however we do when it comes to the phone & broadband side of it.
    Regards,

Currently getting between 25 and 29 Mbits on rapidshare. To me that's acceptable so have held off complaining for now...

This evening may be a different story when everyone comes home from work...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,178 ✭✭✭✭NothingMan

All these fast speeds are making me hopeful. When I get home and it's still 12Mbps I'll be very disappointed.

Signed up to UPC,just last Friday, started off bad,but up to 17DL,so heading in the right direction.

    694302771.png

With a bit (lot) of luck, might get the full 30meg tomorrow,as UPC phoned
and are calling out tomorrow to finish the job, which I have to say,I thought was comlpleted.

Just got UPC BB 15MB connection on Friday. First few days great high speeds all round. Now today I'm getting between 5MB and 10MB DL and only getting 0.64 UL speeds

Also pingtest.net is giving me an F :-( shocking

Can anything be done if I ring them about the ping rate which is crap.

Disable firewall on router and the ping will work..

Jezz lads, I must just be lucky, from talking to some guy that knew what he was talking about when I sorted out a snagging issue with my install, my area has never had more that 30%-40% usage so my speeds are pretty constant.
I didn't even bother using Cat-5 as going wireless is giving me great speeds.
    15MB and phone package.
    694580292.png

I've never touched the firewall so I have a poor ping test but not sure of any benefit in messing with things.

Having a better ping rate gives you better streaming for video conf, gaming (xbox live) etc

This is my blazing 30gb Connection. Phoned them tonight. Busy. They'll phone me back.....

I had about 8 months of hell last year with this rubbish. It was grand the last while, until I 'upgraded'. Feel my pain.

For some reason my broadband speed has decreased after the upgrade, and it seems that UPC wants to ignore this :( Here is the reply I got from them:

Thank you for your Reply, I have checked with the records on your account and it shows an upgrade to 30 MB

Reckon that wins you the award for the lowest speed ever :) you're getting 1.6% of the speed you should
