I was on to them last Wednesday and told I would get a callback in 48 hours, no one's called me back yet. I'll give them a ring tomorrow to see whats going on.

Anyone have any idea what that means?? I've been on the phone (blueface) to my girlfriend for the past 40mins and the UPC broadband has gone dead 4 times cutting off the phone each time. Each time my UPC log has this entry added.

    My current 30Mb/s speed

speeds have stayed good for 1st time in 3 weeks tonight, 15mb line. UPC must have done something in the Clondalkin area. Anyone else around Clondalkin?

Ok not bad better then last nights 2Mb.

I would happy enough if they could keep this up at peak times.

Update things getting better fingers crossed.

Do I dare hope things are fixed?

No, things aren't fixed in Rathmines...

    695802406.png

Has been averaging below 20 since 7pm. Peak on UPC seems to be 7pm - midnight, which kind of fits with the mostly residential profile.

Tony, you raise an interesting question with 'why hasn't everyone simply gone back to what they were before the upgrade'.

I think there are two sets of people complaining here: some, who are now getting 3Mbits or less rather than 20, which indicates a technical fault - and others, who previously got 18/19 and considered that acceptable, but have seen no improvement despite agreeing to an extension of minimum contract and aren't willing to give UPC something for nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,328 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Yes that fits well with many of the reports here.

This is Tallaght at 23.19 the download is fine but I'm not getting as good an upload speed now as I have off peak.

Yeah my 15Mb line has stayed around 12.5 all night alleluia! Am looking forward to the call from UPC to see what caused this, but they could have given some information to people rather than just leave us in the dark or use bullsh**t stories.

We are only 101 posts shy of the Ice Broadband thread I bet UPC was not happy to see this thread a sticky in the same section.:D

This one is only running six weeks or so it took the Ice thread 3 years to get that many posts.

Congrats lads that ye both have normal service resumed with your broadband speeds, here's hoping that UPC will get everyone affected back to reasonable speeds at all times of the day and night.

It would be nice to have a UPC rep signed up to Boards to keep alot of us customers upto-date with the current goings on and any future side effects or problems for when they change over to the DOCSIS 3 system.

Would save themselves a lot phone calls, emails etc. if they did have a rep or 2 monitoring the boards and replying to queries and problems. Most people myself included would far prefer this than having to call them etc.

It would be very helpful to customers and informative at the same time rather than us guessing our problems and having endless visits from engineers with no fix at the end of visit

My guess is it is stupid management that think it's better to keep things secret and treat people like they are stupid.

Ok we got an upgrade of 50% fair enough why complain.

People like me ran into a technical problem with the upgrade which now seems to be fixed.

However this time 24 hours ago I had no idea how long a fix would take or even if there would be a fix.

A bit or information would have went a long way.

I'm on a 10Mb line with UPC, and with Speettest.net (conveniently...) it always gives my full expected dl/ul speeds. The same goes for almost all websites.

However, it's always so slow with streaming videos. Surely they must have some kind of throttling on this?
