Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

All eyes on Group A tonight for the titanic clash between Juve and Bayern to see who takes the second spot and qualifies for the knock-outs. A draw will be enough for Juve but Bayern need the win. Hopefully we're in for a cracker with the talent on show.

Is Ribiery still out for Bayern?

    Yes.

Not so sure Bayern are titanic anymore, but it is a clash of two big European names. You'd have to fancy Juve however.

If Maccabi Haifa fail to score tonight, they will become only the second team to go all six games without finding the net. The first was Deportivo La Coruna in 2004/05. Sky Italia stating Gianluigi Buffon, Felipe Melo and Momo Sissoko are unlikely to start. Meanwhile Juve look to maintain their remarkable 6 year undefeated run at home in Europe.

Juventus: Buffon, Caceres, Legrottaglie, Cannavaro, Grosso, Camoranesi, Felipe Melo, Marchisio, Diego, Trezeguet, Del Piero.
Subs: Manninger, Salihamidzic, Amauri, Poulsen, Giovinco, Grygera, Tiago.

Bayern Munich: Butt, Lahm, Van Buyten, Demichelis, Badstuber, Muller, Van Bommel, Schweinsteiger, Pranjic, Gomez, Olic.
Subs: Kraft, Braafheid, Altintop, Robben, Breno, Klose, Tymoschuk

A lot of talent on show. I cant wait for this one.

Yes, huge downside for the team but Robben is back in the squad. He says he wants to start but I reckon he'll be a second-half sub to change the pace of the game for Bayern.

Bayern are on a 3 game winning streak having only conceded 1 goal, and that's with a pretty dire back line, and tonight van Buyten is back in. Also the keeper, Butt, has been doing an unbelievable job of late. He's risky at times but 1 goal in 3 games is a good record...

I'm a Bayern fan but it's hard to see us win this convincingly and make it through. I think either Juvi will win by a goal or it'll be a draw... unfortunately. Should be a good game though!

Tough one for Marseille tonight. Not only do they need to beat Madrid, but also hope that Zurich don't get beaten by Milan. Real Madrid are not sure of qualification either, so they'll be up for it.

Be nice to get 3 French teams into the next stage of the qualifiers though.:)

Great peno from the Bayern keeper to make it 1-1. cool as you like.

Have to say I cant believe Bayern are not in front in this game. That said its been a brilliant game so far. Plenty of action.

Just how good was Ronaldo's free kick? Of portsmouth or arsenal proportions?

I've only seen it once but he was miles out and it was pretty damn good. the arsenal one you could blame the keeper but not here i think

    Olic, you beauty!

Bayern just need to keep the head and continue playing as they have. As soon as they get tired, bring in Robben!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

The Juve manager is a clown! He hauled off Del Piero at half time for a defensive midfielder and now his team are 2-1 down.

Par for the course. He's an amazing workhorse, best purchase by Bayern in years

Typical Italian. Playing for the draw.

good match. After an impressive start to his Juve move, Diego has gone right off the boil lately and looks unfit. Bayern have been much better than Juve tonight.

I am mightly impressed with them. Lets remember this is a Bayern side minus Ribery and Robben is only on the bench.

Juventus are playing like a group of mercenaries here, no one gives a shít that they're about to crash out of the Champions League.

In fairness, Juventus have been woeful.

Giovinco looks a decent player from what ive seen him and can hardly make this Juve team any worse. They are nearly as bad as their last CL game against Bordeaux.

Bye bye Juventus - its amazing how one match can affect a manager's position. It was Van Gaal under serious pressure now its Ferrara.

In fairness to van Gaal, the fans do like him (more the Klinsmann anyway) and the board did put their confidence in him for the rest of the reason at the AGM, granted in a hap-hazard "we can still fire you" kind of way.

Munich will definitely be one of the second-placed teams to avoid, if not the best. Looks like Ronaldo will be odds-on to be the top-scorer after bagging his second of the night after playing what 3 games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,480 ✭✭✭projectmayhem

4-1 to bayern in a last minute goal.

If they keep playing this way they could go very far. Looks good, especially with Ribery due back!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

Good game, disappointed with Juve expected them to come out 2nd half with bit more attacking spirit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭Warper

Some decent second placed sides going through from tonights groups - Munich, Milan, Porto and CSKA.

Tomorrow nights Groups arent as strong with Fiorentina/Lyon, Unirea/Stuttgart, Inter/Rubin, Olympiacos/Liege.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Juventus were laughably bad. Melo gave nearly every pass away, never chased down anything, wasn't arsed. Cannavaro has been horsesh!t since 2006 and should frankly retire. Diego looked like he was on the beer for the last week.

What is the story with the 2 CSKA players who tested positive for a banned substance. Commentator mentioned it on sky. Can't find any more info on it online.

Bayern and the both Milans are the ones to avoid.
