Question About Grading of Exams

Sorry if this question has been asked before but is it true that if you don't pass the christmas or summer exams you fail, even if your continuous assessment brings you to a pass? i.e. say if i've gotten 35% out of 50% in labs and tutorials in a module, and my end of semester exam is worth 50%, do i need 10% on this exam…

From what I know, you don't need to pass the final exam unless stated otherwise.
