Why so late?

    Why is the budget delivered so late in the afternoon, why not the morning so we can all have a f*cked up day rather than an evening when we're struggling to take it all in?

    Deliver it at 10:00, we can discuss at lunch (the ones who still have jobs) and then by the time we're traveling home, if we can afford to run our cars or travel by the _____ (fill in blank) we can discuss further with the full implications being known?

    Legacy issue. I say why have a budget at all - it's all unnecessary theatre carried over from the British system.

    Its held at 3 pm cos thats also when the footie kicks off and the big horse races happen - tradition! Also the pubs have been open a few hours so the shock can be softened.
