€15 per tonne of carbon, will be interesting to see what that means per litre.

Carbon tax... on the back of "green issues"... anyone want to bet it will go straight into the government coffers...

Do you think the pension levy goes to your pension? It's all a revenue gaining operation, I'll be incredibly surprised to see anything 'green' get government funding

Call me stupid - what's a carbon tax?

just get rid of the word carbon and i think you'll figure it out :D

actually think they are taxing the amount of carbon released from any energy source, still just an excuse for another tax though

Did I get this right? Irish citizens, regardless of where they are in the world, who earn over €1 million will be slapped with a €200k tax?

Who have over 5m assets over here I thought. In all fairness though, this is what everyone has been asking for. Might have shut a few moaners on Primetime up with that

That's what I thought he said. Anyone with capital wealth exceeding €5m in Ireland and earning over €1m worldwide will pay 200k tax per annum. Pretty hefty tax there. I'm sure there'll be a workaround though or else these wealthy landowners will sell up and move abroad

A tax on luxury items like childrens clothing & shoes over a certain price would be a good input also, as would a new PAYE tier to tax a bit more off the very well paid and finally perhaps an increase in the taxes on second houses, holiday homes etc.

This has to have been said in jest !

Of course it does as PS pensions come out of the govermennt's current account.

Should be fun to see how it works out alright. :pac:
They don't even provide a proper service for the whole country. plus if the water metering system on farms in Sligo (dunno if its been expanded outside Sligo) is anything to go on, they'll just make a balls of this too.
By that logic there's no point in trying anythin, is there anything we wouldn't trust them to not **** up? :P
