Great second half by ireland, come from behind to win 24 - 7
I thought Ireland weren't as impressive as yesterday, passing wasn't as crisp with too many passes at head height or not in front of the receiver. Clinical at the end  however.
I've said a morning game against the home team was tricky.
wasn't confident until the 3rd try.
Russia Ireland is the decider to win the Europe trophy,
too bad it's not in the final, as we would have won already (+55 points difference)

Ireland play Wales or Germany in semi final so it could well still happen

    What time Ireland on again?

Oh I thought the 1st teams to play the morning would face each other!
Great, we will win the Grand Prix series then (assuming we beat Wales which seems likely):D

Just before 3.30. I thought it would be against winner of qf2 but not to be

We both make that mistake. Wales is the weaker team of the 4 on the paper and on the past games, including this morning.

    We lost. Russia 1st
    Shame

Strange decision at the end to take the conversion instead of going direct to restart

    9.B.2 Declining a conversion kick
    (a)
The decision to decline the conversion must be relayed by the try scorer to the referee, by saying “No kick” after the award of the try and before the time reaches 00.00.
    (b)
Once the decision is made to decline the conversion, the referee will award a restart kick. The restart kick will take place regardless of whether or not players were ready at 00.00.

There were 3 secs on the clock. Wonder if the ref induced us into error as we asked him...
Forward pass on the making of the try though

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,965 ✭✭✭connachta

I've a doubt : Are we qualified for the Hong-Kong qualifier, still?
Then we lost nothing but the European trophy today?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,965 ✭✭✭connachta

    Yes that's ok...
For the final no Russian anthem but another music.  Correction was made after the Welsh one..
Hope the first track wasn't the Georgian one, or it would be a diplomatic incident...

narrow loss to Samoa too. In fairness, they seem to be able to hold their own pretty well.

these are warm ups for qualifiers for the world series in Hong Kong next year aren't they. do we have a realistic chance of winning the qualifiers and becoming a core team for 2018/2019.
