  • Registered Users Posts: 9,959 ✭✭✭nerd69

    Will we play again today?

What was it two tackles at half time? Have not watched much of this team but they look like a bloody serious outfit

Yeah competition finishes today. Its knockouts now. Have to wait for rest of games to be played to confirm who we play. we're number one seeds so have to see who'll finish 3rd in one of groups

It will be 2nd 3rd placed team. If we keep ball like that we will be hard to beat. Japan still the threat despite Chile beating them. Germany up in the last pool game

QFs up at 11 so some sleep now. Had a sleepy stab at the marches and I think it's
    Ire vs Zim
    Ger vs Uga
    Chi vs HK
    Jap vs Uru

Max mcfarland scoring tries for scotland in 7s at the moment. He the Clongowes lad?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,371 ✭✭✭TheAnalyst_

Ireland looking to be runaway favourites to win this. It will be very strange to see them in the full series IF it happens.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,959 ✭✭✭nerd69

Anyone know if they will be free steaming the Ireland game later again?

    Yes.

It will. Hopefully we will see more 7s tournaments at all levels of game if we do make it.

    Japan are looking very good

Comfortable at half time. 4 tries and 26-0 v Zimbabwe

38-5. Zimbabwe tried at the start of the second half... but they lacked any real cutting edge...onwards and upwards.

    5.54am Irish time

Unless I'm coming in the door I'm not likely to be up for that... Hopefully we make the final at the more reasonable 9.30(I think)

Japan look dangerous but porous too. Germany are likely final opponents if we get there and very solid on D too. Plus a very tight loss in the Final to Spain last year. 2 very hungry teams should make a good match. Japan banana skin first

How unlucky. We lost 12-7. Knocked on at their line with 10 seconds left and japan come up the other end to score. Very nervous match and a bit unlucky with a penalty call in the final play.

Yeah that was tough. A bit nervy. So much at stake. Oh well. RWC7s next and then try again next year

Drat if only he had caught the ball there.

Does this qualifier happen every year in Hong Kong?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,371 ✭✭✭TheAnalyst_

    Japan have done it again.
    Germany blew that one.

Does this qualifier happen every year in Hong Kong?

Yes HK every year since 2013 I think. So another 12 months to wait for another shot. World Series experience really counted for Japan. Every second counts. Germany made a decision mistake in the last minute when they just had to keep ball for 30 secs. Ireland handling error under pressure when it was a catch and fall over the line.

Very small margins count so much in the last moments when everyone is out on their feet.

The Qualifier is tough. Spain scraped past Germany last year and look good to survive their first year in the WS. Cup QF after beating Australia in the pools was a result.

    RWC should be entertaining!

I think that has been Ireland's biggest problem in their past three years. They are smashing so many teams and not getting much real experience against series level opposition.
