Are there any places in Galway where you can rent rooms at a reasonable rate for the purpose of giving grinds or seminars?

The usual solutoin would be hotels, in this economic climate you can do a bit of price negotiation, depending on your group, and what kinds of extras you'll need. (Any AV needs, internet, refreshments, etc) Could cost you though.
Other than that, try churches, community halls, even schools after hours.
Also, there's a lot of empty office, warehouse & retail space lying idle around the city. Keep an eye out as you're out and about, and make a note of anywhere vacant and try to dig out the owners/agents. They might be glad just to get somebody in & using their place, and keeping it lively.

Maybe any of these (depending on what you mean by "reasonable" and the nature of your group/booking/needs) .. some more suited to corporate stuff, some to not-for-profits:
    • the Social Space,
    • Spirit Centre,
    • Rowing Club,
    • new Vincent de Paul Resource centre on Mill St,
    • resource centres in Westside and Ballybane,
    • the existing language and 3rd level schools (Bridge Mills, Atlantic College in Fairgreen House, not sure where others are any more)
    • some of the serviced-office companies rent out their boardrooms to non-tenants on a day or 1/2 day basis (Gray Office Park, Level One, Tara Rock, Galway Technology Centre ... are ones I know about)
    • some pubs (ie not just hotels), eg Richardsons, the Western, Kings Head)
    • the Band Hall
    • the Arts Centre
    • Arus na nGael

The Clayton has very good and well equipped meeting rooms of various sizes.

The Westwood has rooms that they use for church services.

You may also be able to arrange something in NUIG or GMIT or GTI.

Replaced by 091 Labs, which is inhabited by a slightly more motivated class of crusty.

Westside Resource Centre rent rooms out for €15 an hour but they will negotiate if necessary. Know they're anxious to get some cash into the building. Manager there is James Coyne.

No, the 091 labs move around a bit... At present they're located close to the Radisson... Think Justmary meant it was a similar organisation.

Our current location in Exchange House is actually our first physical space, not counting the weekly meetups in the GBC when we first started out.

Providing a space for local groups to use for regular gatherings is something we were considering recently though as far as I'm aware no final decision has been made yet. If it was a talk or seminar it may be possible for us to host it at 091 Labs. The best thing to do would be to get in touch through our contact page and/or come down to the space on one of our open nights to say hello. There should be a lot of members around on Sundays (movie night) and Tuesdays (open night) at 7pm.

There's a building along Newtownsmith where I've noticed rooms being used for drumming practice, though I can't remember the name of the place...
