Is there any way to upload an audio file to a thread, either in-line like the you tubes or as an attachment like a docx?

It's not really possible at the moment in the way that you describe. What you want I guess if for someone to be able to listen to the sudio without having to download it first (stream the audio as you stream Youtube video).

There does exist Vbulliten hacks that allow you to do this though. Perhapes request in the Dev forum ?

What you could do is put it in a zip file, and upload it as an attachment. However, the overall size has to be less than 1mb, which rules out a lot of audio files.

You could change the extension from .wav/.mp3/.wma (or whatever) to .jpg, attach it, and ask users to change it back to whatever it was originally (although some users mightn't go to the bother of doing this!). This gives you 2mb to work with.

The only real solution would be to upload the audio file to youtube, and embedding it using the tags. Uploading the file to youtube doesn't take long (the video will appear instantly once it's finished uploading).

Not perfect solutions, but all that I can think of. Try asking in the Dev forum to see if any feature like this can be enabled.
