Couldn't get a better sized picture, but while it would be a stretch to call it iconic, it is one of the things that sticks out in my mind about USA '94.

It was seen live by millions around the world also, instead of what was going on, on the pitch, so I'm sure there would be plenty of people around the world that might remember it.

Firstly I'm braindead and cant post pictures but there was a cool photo after France's 98 WC win of Zidane's image being projected on the Arc de Triomphe.

The photo of all the blue and white paper things fluttering in the air during Argentina's WC win in 78 was also memorable.

Iconic is relative, some might be iconic to an individual supporter of a team/league/country. Only a few images would be iconic of football as a whole.

Yes, but football as a whole is what we should be looking at if we want to deal with the word "icon". An icon is supposed to be something that is instantly and easily identifiable, holding great significance to a wide group. Fan favourites of individual clubs or pictures of a big game from a particular season are not automatically iconic as far as football is concerned. I didn't have a clue what a number of pictures in this thread related to, and another portion again were just pictures of particular games pulled at random. Thread fail imo, but knock yourselves out I guess.

I know what you mean, and I agree in principal, but the thread would be over very quickly as soon as we got the obvious ones out of the way

There is no justification for such brutality, so please politely contact the Egyptian Football Federation and ask them to ensure that it does not happen again.
