    Make it simple; x is Aoibheann's joy, t is time.

    x(t=0*) = lots of joy, strictly greater than zero.

    Now specify that x increases exponentially with increasing t. Simples! (Of course, after 24 hours x starts to decrease dramatically....but it will always be > 0)

    *0 being the beginning of your birthday, not the beginning of time. That would just be silly...
