Anyone know any good links for courses for people who are unemployed? I seem to remember the government made a big thing out of retraining people and that there are supposed to be free places. Specifically looking at IT courses as already have a Degree from Trinity in Business Information Systems. Job market pretty bad at the moment so considering going back to full time education in the New Year.

    Any advice appreciated

I did bussiness info systems as well, are you looking for a free FAS course to do! Some colleges would have a discount for those that are unemployed upto 30% from what I know, cisco/ms/vmware courses.

What area of IT are you most interested in? Maybe self study would be an option for you, I was in your sitution some time back(3 yrs or so) and went to FAS they refused me an IT course as I had studied 2 different IT courses in college!

You first need to decided your interest area, some ideas off the top of my head below, you can specialise then if you wish, for example security

Network+ Security+ MCSA CCNA (Nice mix to have IMO)
    Network+ > MCSA >MCSE
    Network+ > Virtualization
    Network+ > CCENT/CCNA >CCNP
    Network+ > Linux+ >RHCE

The reason behind starting with n+ is the fact that business info sys doesn't really cover much networking, well mine didn't anyway.
