Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is a cheap CPL filter worth buying for a hobbyist?
I would like to mess about with one but am currently unwilling to pay for a quality one.

Well worth it if you're shooting around water or any reflective surface. Even the cheapo Ebay ones are good enough.

I once bought a cheap CPL on the Bay. At short focal lengths it made the lens soft but at longer focal lengths it was completely distorted. That was a waste of money.

When I say cheapo I mean cheapo Hoya or other such branded versions - not the dirt cheap €10 ones - steer clear of them altogether.

    Thanks all.
I was looking at the "cheap" one from B&H. Puting in an order for a flash, a bag and various other bits, since I can have it shipping to an address in the states and pick it up in a week or so when I am there.

Cokin + Tiffen are priced nearly the same as your no brand one, what I would do is, convert what your willing to pay here for a filter ie 30/40€ then spend that amount in dollars = 60$, like these
