Have Bord Pleanala lost all sense refusing permission for potentially the biggest employer to come to D15 in the past 5 years.

The land they wanted to build on is zoned for a use which is different then what was proposed unfortunatly they had to make the call they did, maybe it should be looked at to see if there was a way of zoning the land.

Its almost as if the Gov. don't want to create jobs.

Back in the day you could just hand over a brown envelope and vwallah, Snotopia.

Like it or not this decision has nothing to do with the Gov. it is between Fingal CC and Bord Pleanala. The land is zoned recreational and it can be reasonably argued that Snowtopia is recreational. I was dissappointed to see that Cllr Coppinger and Cllr Waine our two socialist Cllrs as well as Joe Higgins MEP objected to Snowtopia. I cant understand anyone objecting to jobs.

    And a great recreation facility.

A win-win situation as far as I can see.

The only problem I can think of is traffic, which is chronic all over the area now. I cant imagine it would do enough business but it would be great for the area.

@ Boston: Snowtopia said that would run shuttle buses. Also they had planned to have some other recreational facilities such as a Cinema, shopping and dining areas.

It's a farce that that has been refused. One of the big objections came from UCI Cinema, basically stating it would decrease their business. It's called COMPETITION. It would be the kick up the arse that cinema needs, I don't even go there anymore. I go to LiffeyValley as the cinema is a lot nicer.

There would still be lots of car traffic. Its not the area isn't bad with traffic already.

I agree about UCI. Blanch is poorly run and maintained its almost always dirty. I do the same and go to LiffeyValley if at all possible.

If a road was built from Tyrrellstown to the New Ashbourne Road (which isn't that far away) it would solve a lot of the traffic congestion.

And then open up the new road from Tyrrellstown to the N3.

And then if they ever open the Ballycoolin Rd. to Finglas,

Sure there'd be no problem with congestion then.

All of these new roads have a crossing point.

    TYRRELLSTOWN........

    What congestion?

    I just cant understand it.

Yes because as we all know they gave serious thought to traffic managment when building the shopping centre and the NAC. Not!

I remember reading inone of the local papers that they were going to link the N3 to the N2. The article mentioned that Snowtopia development in hte same breath.

As for the Ballycoolin road . . . don't get me started!
