Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Makes perfect sense. Same reason I was cheering City last weekend. Villa winning puts them in a great position to push on and take 4th, which is not good for Liverpool.

Things are not that bad yet.

    Come on the Villa.

villa doing well in their own box.

What did you think of the dive?

Villa are winning, and deservedly so, but have zero control of the game. There is going to be a couple more goals in this game and it is impossible to predict who gets them.

That really doesn't make sense... Surely you have to have some sort of control over a game to deserve to be in the lead?

    Deservedly Lloyd? How so?

Park has been terrible. Get him off, no brain, horrible first touch, doesnt think nearly quick enough.

Hopefully he'll write a book about the people who dive who are ruining the game and how he'd never do it.

To save the risk of dragging this off topic, I'm afraid we will have to agree to disagree. ;)

I think the same what i thought after nGog dived. Players are encouraged to dive because if there is any contact it's deemed a foul.
Rooney dived there anticipating contact being made, just like Gerrard did last week, except he got it wrong cos no contact was made
He dived against Arsenal earlier in the season and contact was made then so got his peno
Diving will always be in the game and i hate it!!

    indeed.

    very kuyt-like.

it's remarkable how similar they are in possession.

No, not at all. Villa have created more chances, but the game is a wild end to end affair and, if anything, Utd are enjoying the few phases of consistent pressure that have been strung together. Hence, they are good value for the lead despite having no real grip on proceedings thus far.

Villa look threatening on the counter, unlucky enough not to be winning 2-0, Rooney is looking very threatening and I'd be surprised if there wasn't more goals.

Villa have a great scraping back four, and by that I mean they do very well at covering each others arses, 2-1 Villa please.

Hopefully we'll get some more Obertan magic after the break.

    United will win this imo.

Intensity is too much for Villa. United will keep it up and their better passing will lead to goals.

The next goal is absolutely vital though.

I don't know who's on the bench, but who would we bring on? Is Obertan on the bench?

Or possibly bring on Berba and stick Giggs on the left.

    Berbatov for Park plz

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Would be very shocked if there weren't more goals in this.

Utd with more of the ball and Rooney looking dangerous but Villa's defence looking a lot more solid than Utd, where Fletcher looks a liability at RB.
Clearly not his position as he has looked uncomforatble there.

He's been very quiet this half. Almost anonymous. Almost like he isn't even on the pitch at all.;)

Well get Berba/Owen on and go for the traditional 442. Or Obertan in a straight swap for Park.

Either would be better than how Park is peforming today.

I don't see intensity making a difference, the way MON plays have the time villa are used to doing nothing but defending for 60minutes at a time, 45 will be no problem, that said i still see us conceeding, just not two.... hopefully.

    UTV!

Villa have more than held their own. Good to see them at least turn in a good performance so far.

Hope they can keep it up now

    Owen for Giggs.

Bizarre choice of half time music on Sopcast streaming.. a Villa song, Glory, Glory Man United.. both fair enough, but then some bird singing a George Michael song, then some R&B song with the lyrics, "F*ck you, I don't want you back"?!?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,689 ✭✭✭✭OutlawPete

    Took off Giggs.

    Lovely ..

    Come on Villa!

O'Neill rarely has a plan B and is horrendous at making in game adjustments btw - another reason to fancy Utd despite the hill they have to climb.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

It was cunning plan by MON all along...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,689 ✭✭✭✭OutlawPete

Christ utd are going hell for leather now .. :o

If we don't concede first 20 mins we'll win me thinks .. fingsers crossed.

    I was there in '83 :)

Really hoping the intensity continues right the way through, we need Villa to be as knackered as possible for their visit on Tuesday night

    Park is a passenger

Berbatov for Park in a few minutes, according to the commentators.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Villa's midfield continues to retreat and set itself ever deeper...

Would be so typical of United to blow a great chance to draw level with Chelsea. Always has to be done the hard way.
