Trying to start a blues band based in the North East.

I play guitar or bass and can do some singing.
Style will be early Fleetwood Mac, Free, JJ. Cale, Clapton, BB king and lesser known blues plus originals.
    This won't be rocking blues.
North East has the venues for start off gigs, the annual Monaghan Blues Festival is always packed.
Best if you have your own transport but if not we can get around that.
Gimme a shout if you got the Blues.

Im 39 and play blues guitar, this is exactly the type of thing I want to get into, but I'm in South Dublin. I also have loads of originals.

    Good luck!
I've been on here trying to start a decent blues band in South Dublin for months, (maybe years?) with no luck.
There seems to be nobody worthwhile on here, it looks like it's all kids trying to start their next big indie/metal 'project'.
Not that there's anything wrong with that but where the hell are all the decent mature musicians? They must be out there somewhere...

Damn this is what I've been looking for. I play guitar...rhy and lead and can do some nice backing vox or SOME lead vox. I'd prefer to do backing though. I'm beside Drogheda...30's . Samples of my playing at the link below. Please get back to us...Fingers :)

When someone says "North east" I think of Howth. I forget that parts of Ireland are outside Dublin. :D

I would temporarily join a blues band if it was in Dublin. I havent jammed with anyone as a bassist, you can only go so far practicing on your own at home.

I'm in Dublin too, play guitar and would be up for starting up a regular jam session with no strings attached...

I don't a huge amount of time to commit to jamming three nights a week etc. but I would defo interested in jamming on a regular basis for fun.

PM me if you're interested in getting something together in the new year....

Sounds like a load of old kak to me. Usual story here it seems.
So many guitarists without a musical home. :( Maybe I'll take up bass for the new year.

Yep ! Gigs seem to be scarce though. Possibly the recession. :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,331 ✭✭✭Keyzer

Lets keep this alive and see what we can come up with...

    We have at the moment:

    1 Guitarist
    1 Bassist

    Anyone else interested?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭Fingers Mcginty

    Can I tag along ?:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,331 ✭✭✭Keyzer

Of course, the more the merrier...

    2 Guitarists
    1 Bass Player

    Any drummers out there?

I'd love to get someone on keys too but I might be being a bit ambitious...

What about Rory Gallagher? If you don't like him then you're not coming...

One condition - you need to find a drummer....
