Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How is Ronaldo's a far better goal? Figueroa's was nearly twice the distance out and flew higher into the net. The only thing favouring Ronaldo's was that he was running with the ball rather than it standing still, but IMO Figueroa's was a more spectacular and difficult to execute goal, and you're less likely to see an effort like that again than Ronaldo's.

Have you ever seen Crossbar Challenge on Soccer AM? Every week, almost every player from the lower leagues hits the ball either on target or very close to the goal. I've even hit the crossbar from 50 metres myself, while trying the same thing. This was from further out, but the same general lobbing type shot. The keeper was running back to his line.

If you got every top premiership striker and midfielder, and told them to score from 40 yards, with the keeper on the line, I sincerely doubt there'd be a similar percentage of successful shots.

Yes because the crossbar challenge replicates the middle of an EPL game to a tee  Figeuora had a split second to see that the keeper was off his line. Only one shot would work, and he executed it perfectly. Ronaldo's goal was brilliant, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't way better than the other. Let's just say they were equally as spectacular and equally as rare! :pac:

Indeed. I have seen many other goals i prefer to this one. Technique makes a better goal than distance. Something like that zidanesque volley darren fletcher scored earlier on in the season is infinitely more difficult a skill to pull off.

You're biased towards your own team mate. Tut tut.

Yes fair play to Murphy for not overdoing it with the celebrations for first goal Scholes gave ball away so I think he was very gracious there.

Clint Dempsey's from the other night was fairly special. I think it's the best goal so far this season.

Two more brilliant goals from tonight,

    Nasri v Porto,

    And Robben v Fiorentina.

Nasri's should easily win the 'Puskas Award', it'll take something special to beat that. Obviously:rolleyes:

If they're not happy then they know nothing about football. Santos is the one club that I'd believe Robinho if he said he loved them.

Some technique to be able to catch a ball that sweet when its coming over your shoulder at that pace.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Same as that, great debut for a young lad in such a fired-up, important game:)

Agree Ronaldinho was the master of the ''stop and go''

Would take it around a player, stop put his foot on the ball flick it around a player. Pure skill

It's actually the little drag backwards that impresses me the most, the entire motion is so fluid that he basically leaves 3 defenders who are within two feet of him completely dumbfounded. Beautiful piece of individual brilliance, the kind of goal that Guapa was invented for.

And the confidence/ability to finish like that with his weaker foot after doing all that.
I don't care what anyone else says, that is a more difficult goal technique-wise than Figueroa's.
