Tesco Galway Shopping Centre had no copies and no clue what I was on about!!!
    HMV 44.99
    GAME 54.99

Not sure about Smyths,Gamestop or Xtravision but probably 50-55 euro, although yesterday Xtravision said they were not selling until Friday.

Eurogamer criticising the game for having a server list instead of matchmaking? That's a positive for me not a negative.

I would have to agree with you. Matchmaking can be very tedious at times.

Just after stickin it in the ps3 and there a 133MB update!
A downloadable update for Gran Turismo 5 has already released, hours before the game's set to hit store shelves.

When you plot the GT5 disc into your (internet connected) PS3 tonight or tomorrow, the first thing you'll see is a prompt to download the update, version 1.01, which unfortunately weighs in at 133MBs - and could take some time if everyone in the western world is doing it at the same time.

The primary feature of the update appears to be the activation and organization of the game's online modes, which apparently weren't previously available to those who got the game early.

It also feature minor tweaks such as throwing a streaming news panel on the main menu and a prompt for license agreement when you first go online.

At 133MBs it would seem like something more significant is tucked away in the update, but nothing's been officially announced as yet.

But unlike the optional 6.4GB install, you won't be able to skip this update if you have any intention of going online.

So far from the reviews that im reading , ive seen it coming after a 5 year development its seems reviewers are just nip picking the problems and most of it seems to be the menu screen , kinda of a disgrace and ive seen it happen time and time again , like complaining about a music album cover for being to bland but the music is great and quite possibly the best music we heard :P.
dont think though reviews were going to put the gt fans off the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Seeing that full intro movie in full HD...wow...stunning.

I've grown weary of managing the ever-changing tuning profiles of an entire garage of cars. I wish I could hire an in-game mechanic to worry about such tedious and time-consuming matters.

Is there anything along the lines of a 'quick tune' option before a race that, for example, might automatically apply a suitable set-up to the car you're currently in?

I've only got an O2 fraudband at home, anyone know if I can download the update to a memory stick and install it that way?

"Kind of a disgrace"? Isn't the game getting favourable reviews?
like complaining about a music album cover for being to bland but the music is great and quite possibly the best music we heard :P.

    It's nothing like that.
dont think though reviews were going to put the gt fans off the game.

Not when 'true believers' instantly lay the blame for poor reviews squarely on the shoulders of the reviewer.

    Consensus:

If you like the GT franchise, you'll love it.
If you like Forza, stick with Forza.

Picked up the Collectors Edition in Xtravision for 64.99, had not planned to get the CE but couldn't help myself.
At work but feel "cough cough" a bit peaky now.;)

Just heard an ad on the radio for Xtravision. Trade in 2 games and get it for free.

    Mmmmm.

At a guess I'd say some of the games would be, F1 2010, COD, Fallout: New Vegas, FIFA 11, Medal Of Honour.

This is the version I want. Will most likely trade in a couple of games for it. Can't wait.

Someone on another thread said you have to use the directional buttons and X to accelerate and Square to brake, can you change it to use the triggers and analog sticks? I can't play it until I finish my college assignment!

Got a chance to play it last night with my friend at GAME after hours :pac:

It's disappointing. Still good, but disappointing. Years on from the original GT, the handling hasn't changed much at all. It's still too stiff on some cars when it clearly shouldn't be. The attention to detail on the cars is amazing, but the tracks are a bit meh.

The track editor was a serious seller when I heard about it first. It's just crap now that it's revealed as a POS.

7/10 tbh, I really wanted it to be great, a reason to buy a PS3. But it's not. Good day.

Balls, bewteen the game, wheel and stand this is costing me close to 300 euro. Its getting mixed reviews. It sounds like Toca. Race Driver 3 on the ps2 was way better. Crash damage is important and it sounds like they made a balls of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,910 ✭✭✭Sisko

I havnt bought a GT game since the 1st one for the ps1. Still even I'm aware that you don't buy a GT game for the damage physics! lol.

GT was the best racer on the ps1 imo, but it was still horrible whenever your car collided into anything. I expect the same from this tbh. I'm buying it to relive my old ps1 days but also to for the trill of racing on the top gear track online with 4 of my mates who are also buying it.

But its still Gran Turismo at the end of the day.

I just hope it allows you to put custom music playlists in the game, I wanna hear the old gt1 sound track while I play :D

Word of warning. HMV in Patrick St Cork are not selling it until tomorrow. Walked in during lunchtime and couldn't see it anywhere so I went to the desk and was told that games normally don't get released until the end of the week so they weren't selling it yet. I informed him that HMV's around the country were selling but he just apologised and said it wouldn't be on sale until tomorrow. He did confirm the price as 44.99 as expected at least.

As I wasn't going to be able to play it until tomorrow night anyway, it doesn't make a huge difference to me, but still I thought it was weird, and figured I'd save others the hassle if they were planning on going there after work.

Was going to buy it this evening til i crashed my car on the way to work. Now i gotta spend my day waiting for the garage to ring with the cost of fixing my car  and some other guys car :mad::mad:

Good idea,If you doing that just pick a different car though for the time being, something like the Suzuki Swift which would have similar power. :)

How about an avantime for a replacement for the kia. It did run a power lap to compare against and a modified version as well to compare who can do a better job than the lads on improving it.

it's only a standard but still.
