    You really have to do the legwork yourself as everyone is different

    you could try a broker, or online options include 123.ie, insure.ie, bestquote.ie to name a few...

    for the insurable cost for rebuilding purposes, check out scs.ie as most people tend to overinsure their buildings

    It actually reduced because I was proactive in seeking out the details of the policy- house was way over insured, as are many houses with the price falls over the last few years...not sure if there are other factors OP such as if your area is prone to flooding, high crime etc...a 10 minute call will confirm how much house is insured for, contents covered etc etc..there is usually room for reductions downwards on these things...hopefully though you will save more than the 33% increase of this year---did they state why when they advised you?..

    Try getcover.ie. These guys offered the cheapest quote, with the lowest excesses for me this year.

    Buildings sum insured is on rebuild not market value.

    Get your contents cover right also.
