    Hi,

Is anyone else having problems with Eircom BB.
For the last two days mine is disconnecting maybe 4/5 times every hour.
Keep having to restart the router

    Thanks

    try changin the dns
log into the router, go to expert and click yes/ok, go to configure then connection, scroll down to dns, for the first 208.67.220.220 and the second 208.67.222.222
save and restart the connection and it should be ok

    Thanks for the reply.

I actually had those settings but I had them on my wireless adapter, suppose it's better to have them on the router itself.

    Fingers crossed,

    Thanks again

If you are using the Eircom netopia router, go to the default gateway and you have a configuration page with settings > go to advanced configuration > Connection > you should have an option on this page at the bottom for Nailed Up connection, select that and save changes.

Can you post up the line stats of your Router as well ?

    Hi,

The only check options I have are
    UPnP: IPSec PassThrough

    Can't see Nailed up anywhere...
How do I post up my stats ?

    Cheers

You should see it under the connection information on the Menu once you select it.

Its clear your router is not synching at the correct speed. What speed do you have with Eircom, it looks maybe 2MB.

If you can just connect the Router to the main phone point in your house and disconnect everything else, see if that synch speed changes.

I have the 3MB connection with Eircom.
The only thing I have connected to the line is my router at the moment.

Are You connected directly to the main socket? With everything else disconnected, all filters, sky boxes etc

    via a splitter

    Edited while u were posting

Get rid of the splitter, connect directly and unplug everything else. Reboot the router and post stats after

I don't think your is capable of 3MB with the Line Attenuation so high above.

I'd get Eircom to downgrade your speed to 2MB.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

Your line is just about capable of 3Mbit, if You put Your stats in here:
    http://212.23.23.177/adsl/default.aspx
It should give You a maximum of 3152Kbps, although You synced at a much higher speed without the splitter (i suspect its a filter Your talking of). Maybe You should consider downgrading to a stable 2Mbit and replace the filter

don't suppose anyone has the phone number for eircom broadband support, they don't make it easy on their website !!
will check if I have the 2MB or 3MB connection

I had the exact same problem for the last week or so....it was absolutely ridiculous. Had to get an Eircom engineer down to try fix it. Although it doesn't disconnect anymore, its much slower and I'm getting high pings in games and shockingly slow download speeds. I'm gonna switch to another ISP next week. Anyone got any advice on any decent ISP's, mainly for gaming and downloading??
