Planting a tree...How do I go about it

    Hello all!

I hope this is the right place to ask this question.
So...I would like to plant a tree. Preferably a "linden" (lime?) tree. I presume its too late to do it now (frost and such), so am I right in thinking that early spring would be a good time?
However I'm not much of a botanist, so I've no idea if linden/lime are native to the South (Cork Area).
Now I do not want to plant it in my garden. I was rather hoping to find a nice spot in West Cork. However if I do find a suitble place, how do I know that it is ok to plant a tree there, and it will not be uprooted by whoever. Since most of the land is owned by farmers, would farmers mind strangers planting trees on their land or would they view it as a good thing?

    Hi..
Don't just turn up on a farm and start planting anything, you'll get anything but a warm reception, tresspass plain and simple, what would think if you looked out your window in the morning and I was there planting stuff in your garden?. At the least ask the farmer first and explain your intentions..

Why not plant it in your own garden ??

    It's not.
You cannot just turn up to someone elses property and plant a tree in it.
You would first have to find the property owner and ask permission.
They will most likely look at you wondering if you're the full shilling.

No...But I want to...cos then I'll perceive your post as being original and more importantly...hilarious.

    Hugs and kisses
