Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi
Hope i have the right thread but apoligies if i dont.

Im hoping to get one of these cameras for christmas for myself but i dont know which one to get.
My uses would be very varied but common onews would plane spotting and general landscape picture taking.
I see alot of shops have the nikon d3000 bundles for sale at reasonable prices, is it recommended as a good starter.
I would be delighted if someone could recommend useful webpages on lens selection as well.

As you can see from my note im new to this so please be patient with my probaly silly questions.
    Thanks in advance

First off you are probably best to read through this thread which is sticky at the top of the page.

I do not know too much about Plane Spotting, but I would imagine it would need a long lens. Shooting Landscapes is normally done with a wide lens. The common thing to both is that you will need a reasonably good tripod, so you will have to factor that into your budget.

    Jod what's your budget like?

Have you physically held a D3000 yet? Just curious as some people pick Nikon over Canon because they say it feels better.
