Moving providers and downtime

Hi all, I am currently using BT for my broadband and with the vodafone changeover looming I am looking into changing providers. Can you tell me will I have downtime in the move. I currently have all my calls, broadband and line rental with BT if that matters. Thanks TCP/IP
