Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

B&W Landscapes - C&C

    Hey folks.

    I'm currently going through a B&W phase where I convert most of my shots into
    black and white. Here's a few shots taken in the last week from around
    Kilkenny and county. C&C is most certainly welcome.

    Oh and black borders, yay or nay?
    I saw someone here use them on a B&W shot and to me it looked extremely effective.

    I don't mind the borders, but the photos themselves look a little dark to me.

    The borders distract me - pictures are open at the sides, so my attention is dragged away from pictures.
    But overall, I am lacking contrast in those pictures.

    Don't like the boarders either. Is that a default from the camera or something added after in PP?
    I like #3 & #5 out of them.

    I opened them full size and was right in thinking the small sizes don't do them justice.

    Really like No.1 and No.3, there's some weird angles going on in No.2 that made me feel confused when looking at it. Think it could make a nice image from another angle though.

    Dislike the borders, would prefer full borders or none at all and love the b&w, but then I've been in the b&w phase for about 6 months now where I think everything looks better b&w yet force myself to keep a few colour photos.

    The angles in 1 & 2 are not right to my eyes.

    The other three lack any contrast - there are no true blacks and I'm not sure if soft silky water works in B&W.

    No 3 has the "horizon" directly across the middle of the frame which leaves too much uninteresting flat water in the foreground.

    The frames do nothing for them either.

    My 2c worth for what it's worth!
