Hi guys, not sure if this is the correct place to post, move it and kick my rear if its not.

I have a vista desktop pc in my sitting room with a netgear wgr613val wireless router connect to IBB on a brezze antenna. My sister was able to surf the net from two doors away using my connection so i am guessing i need to secure it.

my main problem for now is that i am buying this for my son :

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0429032016.1260834337@@@@&BV_EngineID=cceiadejdhehdehcflgceggdhhmdfom.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=591584&category_oid=#productInformationSection

He will be using it in our attic conversion so a wire running to it is not an option. I was thinking of setting up a LAN to allow him to connect wirelessly but dont know if the pc i'm buying will allow that. Do i need extra hardware for it? (wireless card or bluetooth dongle?)

I have an old neotopia wireless router from my eircom days. if i connect that to the new pc will it allow a connection to the netgear ? I know a little about pcs but am no expert. I want him to have the ability to surf from his room for (porn) collage work :D never had two pcs at the same time before so kinda lost.

thanks in advance for any suggestions you can give

You do indeed need to secure it!

I don't think that PC has a wireless card built in so you'll need one like this or this. Remember that you do need a spare pci slot in the PC for the internal one.

You won't be able to use your old netopia router to connect to the netgear unless I'm missing something.

20 out of 25, not bad but not at good as you i guess. :) i will check out those options. i thought it was a long shot with the second router but worth asking about.
