Seeing as there is a SNES one in this section that got a few responses I thought I'd start a Megadrive one to help me decide which games to purchase.

I've made out a list. Most of these games I owned before and will probably try and get them again.

    Sonic Games
    Shining Force Games
    Zombies ate my neighbours
    Haunting - starring Polterguy
    Comix Zone
    Gunstar Heroes
The Lost World - Jurrasic Park
    Taz
    Anamaniacs
    Streets Of Rage
    Golden Axe
    Sparkster
    Vectorman
    Fifa 97
Fifa - Road To The World Cup
    Mutant League Football
    Flicky
    Alex Kidd
    Street Fighter
    Mortal Combat
    Power rangers
    Virtua fighter
    Ecco
    The Lion King
    Beavis And Butthead
    Shinobi
    Worms

Which others would you recommend guys? I've probably left out a good few games which I used to have and enjoyed.

I forgot to list Mega Bomberman. I still have that one.

Ah, a topic close to my heart :)

Out of the ones you mentioned, I've arranged them into 'worth getting' and 'meh' -

    Sonic Games - Worth getting
Shining Force Games - Worth getting
Zombies ate my neighbours - Worth getting
Haunting - starring Polterguy -Worth getting
    Comix Zone - Worth getting
    Gunstar Heroes - Worth getting
The Lost World - Jurrasic Park - Meh
    Taz - meh
    Anamaniacs - meh
Streets Of Rage Worth getting..and Streets of Rage 2. Avoid 3 though. Try to get Bare Knuckle 3 instead.
Golden Axe - Worth getting (Sure get 2 while you're at it. 3 is a bit of an odd one)
    Sparkster -Worth getting
    Vectorman - Worth getting
    Fifa 97 - meh
Fifa - Road To The World Cup - meh
    Mutant League Football - meh
    Flicky - Worth getting
    Alex Kidd - Worth getting
    Street Fighter - meh
Mortal Combat - meh meh meh
    Power rangers - meh
Virtua fighter - The 2d one is crap. If you get a 32X, the version for that is brilliant.
Ecco - Worth getting (And get Ecco 2: The Tides of Time)
The Lion King - Worth getting
    Beavis And Butthead - meh
Shinobi - Get all the Shinobi games for the MD. Revenge of Shonobi, Shadowdancer and Shinobi III. All great games
    Worms - mehhhhh

More games you should get (I'll start off with the imports :D) -

MUSHA (Genesis and Japan only though..best shooter on the system)
Pulseman (Japanese only, but brilliant. I don't know why this wasn't released here)
Gleylancer (Japanese only shooter and super expensive. Brilliant though)
Eliminate Down (Same as above & even more expensive)
Panorama Cotton (More Japanese only silly expensiveness)
Shadowrun (Another great game we didn't get here)
    Vectorman 2 (US only)

Now on to the stuff we actually did get here -
    Thunderforce IV
    Thunderforce III
    Alien Soldier
    Probotector
    Mega Turrican
    Ranger X
    Phantasy Star IV
    Road Rash 2 & 3
    Super Fantasy Zone
    Rocket Knight Adventures
The Adventures of Batman and Robin
    Megaman: The Wiley Wars
    Another World
    Demolition Man
    Space Harrier 2
    Aladdin
    Ghouls n Ghosts
    Dynamite Headdy
    Castle of Illusion
    Gaiares
    Alisia Dragoon
    Chakan
    Hellfire
Herzog Zwei (First ever RTS. Really should check this game out)
    Dune 2 Battle for Arrakis
Lethal Enforcers 1&2 (And get the Justifier Light guns, great fun!)
    Mercs
    Micromachines
    Ristar
    The Story of Thor
    Strider
    Sub-Terrania
    Sunset Riders
    The Lion King

Edit - Actually check out Beggar Prince. It is an RPG that was released for the Megadrive in 2006. A developer called Super Fight team took a Taiwanese only MD title and translated/enhanced it. Intereresting to pick up.

There is also another project nearing completion called Pier Solar. It's a 100% new RPG release for the Megadrive.

There are more...but I'll let you buy all of those first :D

Zero Tolerance; my favourite game on the mega drive.

I even bought a mint copy off ebay a few years back even though I don't have a mega drive anymore.

You do know that they tagged the music on afterwards as they had basically made a crappy game and needed a gimmick to make it stand out? Rubbish game. Avoid!

I'd include Urban Strike too if it wasn't for the terrible oil rig/ out of Helicopter levels.

i quite like those oil rig levels...urban strike was one of two MD games of mine that got stolen :( And I have fond memories of it, especially its pretty cruel (to the bad guy) end boss :D

I'd put in a second nomination for dynamite heady (well any treasure game full stop) it is blisteringly difficult but the levels and set design (literally) is worth playing it for...dont think I ever completed it myself...

    Two Crude Dudes!

Great co-op, battle toads style, very tough game.

I think Oisin pretty much has all bases covered there.

However I'd recommend against Sparkster. It's not that great and not a patch on the SNES version.

Rocket Kight Adventures though is simply amazing. It really is a must have.
