    That's gorgeous!
Fair play to you for buying it, and the rest of your collection too.

I hope you give regular thanks to your deity of choice that you live in a place where you're not regarded as some sort of criminal subversive for your interest.

thanks lads, I just love these enfields, my go to rifle is a scoped no4mk1*
Its got a two groove barrel, but is still good for 2-3 inches @ 100yards.
Im sure I could do better if I slugged the barrel and found a bullet it likes, seemingly boat tails wobble a bit

its pretty beat up, but I love it

What I'm looking for now is an Irish Army marked FAL kit to put together, got a Brit one right now

    lovely piece of history
Its a pity that our current political leadership see to have forgotten what an important role firearms played in the founding of our state
people who had a true vision for the future and were not afraid to stand up to what was then one of the most powerful empires at the time....

oh how they kick them selves to see the sad state of affairs at the moment

Looking at those photos harmoniums, I would suspect that unless the date on the tag is wrong, that couldn't be a 'Free State' rifle. The Free State came into being in 1922 and lasted until 1937 when it was replaced by the Republic under the current constitution.

If the date is correct, then that rifle was either British Army issue or RIC. It may well have continued it's existence after 1922 as a 'Free State' rifle, but it wouldn't have started out life as such.

I dont think any SMLE rifles were made just for Ireland after 1922. Just all arms were handed over to the new free state (might be wrong). I think I can make out the FF stamp on the barrel, under the top guard.

Lovely rifle harmoniums;) hope you have a bayonet for her. Would really set her off!

In fairness, I don't think either Harmoniums or OGT were claiming otherwise.

Harmoniums, what's the full address on the rib of the shotgun?

    Three others
    enfield1.jpg
    1: 1941 Longbranch
    2: Irish Contract rifle
    3: English reserve rifle

    enfield2.jpg
Close up of the Irish contract and English reserve.
The bolts on these rifles are still black. original black, meaning they haven't been used.

Oh sweet mother of divine............. tell me were yea both live so I can sell my house and move there:eek:

I put in for an SMLE dated 1916 here and was refused :( Tried to get a browning HP, refused. Tried to change my hornet to a .223 and was told I was trying to pull a fast one

All this only after, my local crime officer told me to bulk up my security. At a cost off over €1000. All for notting
