I bought my Leupold off >this< guy before, don't see them listed in his shop now but it's worth an ask.

Can't do much better than 100% record on your link, fair few sales. Mind you don't get caught for duty when it comes into this little socialist paradise.

The duty/VAT thing on imported items appears to have been applied somewhat haphazardly over the years, and seems to depend on phases of the moon and other such imponderables.
I've always considered it best when doing the 'good value' calculations on importing stuff, to assume that duty and VAT will be charged, and base my decision on that.

If I'm then charged duty/VAT, at least it's not a cause of grief on the real cost of the item delivered; if they're not charged, well, that's just gravy on top. :D

Expect to get caught for duty...I did. Scope ended up being faulty and had to be returned to the US. I had to pay the return shipping. Then An Post tried to catch me for duty a second time. Had to produce the original paperwork and emails to seller.

All in all, I still saved an arm and a leg:D

Cheers John, how do you compare the Nightforce to the leupold?

I bought a bushnell banner scope for my .22 of ebay. It was only €90 brand new (including P&P). The same scope is €275 euro in my local gunshop. Bargains to be had alright I’d just be worried in case it got damaged in transit. (I didn’t matter that much in my case because it was much money).

I really liked the Leupold in daytime, the glass was brilliant. But at night I didn't like it at all. Also I found the eye relief way too fussy for me. I kept the Nightforce and sold the Leupold.

That would make me worry about authenticity.

What magnification were both the scopes John, were they first or second focal plane?

I heard similar things about the Nightforce eye relief, but I've heard from a few people now that have traded Leupolds for Nightforce!

What kind of reticle have you on the Nightforce?

Well if it's a fake its a damn good one. the scope was indentical to the one in the gunshop, everything down to the product code on the box was idenitical.

I'm very happy with it anway. I paid €280 for a nikon buckmaster for another rifle i have, in a gunshop in ireland and my €90 internet bushnell is better.
