From the Met eireann forecast ,all one could take from it is there will be wintry showers over the weekend with the cold snap lasting at least till midweek.
No word of heavy snow or nothing ,ahh all this hype and nothing materialsing out of it yet. :(
    Another letdown on the cards?

It's only Thursday evening. The first proper snow event wouldn't be till late Saturday according to the models, thats too far away for them to have any realistic idea of how much snow there will or wont be.

Lets see what they are saying Saturday morning, cause if the GFS and UKMO 12Z runs came off there would be widespread snow showers overnight Saturday.

Lads, there's no reason to be negative when this is what the models are showing us now for just 2 days ahead :) ....

If we get some here I'll be sure to send a little your way too ;)

'Twas lovely last January, all the hills were white and the wildlife that showed itself really stood out. Two foxes in particular spring to mind.

Has anyone else noticed that our winters are getting colder?
Our pipes froze last year for the first time in 20 years according to my parents.
Makes it kind of hard to believe in Global Warming :P

I thought they'd abandoned that theory.

Very interesting models this evening with ECM and UKM keeping pressure very high to the north with the cold reluctant to leave our shores.

Its an open-ended cold spell at this point.

A mate of mine just rang me to say it's snowing heavily up around annagh on the wicklow wexford border with a good 2 inches on the ground already-thats about 5 miles west of me but up at about 6ooft or so.
    It's sleet and hail here.

This is terrible - I really want snow, but we've no heating so it's not such a good thing!

*Dont take this chart too seriously*

If the current GFS run played out exactly as it predicts (unlikely) then this is the kind of snow covering you might expect to see by next Tuesday :
