Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

DNS Problem

A strange problem that's actually wrecking my head. We are on an AD setup, and we have our own internal DNS server. IP's are fired out using DHCP, clients are XP pro.

Our company website is http://www.mycompany.com, but we also have a subdomain called http://sales.mycompany.com. We cannot access the subdomain internally unless we change our DNS server to be an external DNS server. So, for example:

    Client setup
    IP 192.168.3.1
    GW 192.168.3.20
    DNS 192.168.3.68 Does not work

    Client Setup
    IP 192.168.3.1
    GW 192.168.3.20
    DNS 194.125.133.11 Does work

I know it has something to do with an entry on the DNS server, but cannot figure out what. Any help, is most welcome.

What response does your DNS server reply with?
    Start > run > cmd

    nslookup

    server 192.168.3.68

    sales.mycompany.com

Does it return the correct ip address?

If your internal DNS uses the zone, mycompany.com instead of, for example, mycompany.local; then for each entry made to the external DNS (run by your domain registrar) for sales, www, mail etc your admin will need to manually make a corresponding entry on the internal DNS server also, as it will not pass on the request to the external server for this zone.

Thanks for your reply ressem. You identified the exact issue. Once I made a manual entry for the external entities, it solved the issue.

    Thanks again.
