Nope Owen.C - All of that will push south overnight tonight. Tomorrow will more or less be a rinse and repeat - though the trough of showers (purple line) over the northern third might not be there again tomorrow, but another set of fronts (red and blue) will be in the same position again this time tomorrow. They are expected to be MUCH heavier tomorrow evening/night.

although, for most low levels aeras it will be rain and sleet at first rather than snow. it'll only turn back to snow as the colder air drags in behind and at that stage the ground will be too wet and warm for it to stick. there always has to be a drawback. either it's too cold, calm and dry for troughs to have any real zest to them as they move down across us or when we do get the heavier precipitation it involves the conditions becoming the wrong side of marginal.

sorry i'm gone into negative mode.:o

Anyone see the Six 1 news, Eveyln mentioned the word "Blizzard" and some decent snowfall for North and West areas !!!

South of the current band of showers the air has cooled enough to make it mostly snow... it will be light enough and amounts of 1cm or 2cm at best will be achieved in many areas - not ALL areas mind you, before midnight tonight, the winds will back westerly behind the showers ahead of the warm front - some milder atlantic air may bring sleet and rain showers onto the west coast before the warm front arrives, these showers will be light and highly unlikely to make it more than 15 miles inland.

Overnight the warm front will bring a rain/sleet/snow mix - more sleet/snow further east. Then the cold front will quickly follow on with some light snow/pellets/hail mix. Amounts from the fronts will be small.

Anyone with more than an inch of lying snow by 8am tomorrow will be very lucky, a dusting for many.

Although i expect more reports of snow from Meath, Louth etc?

    Anybody there?

Yep, in south Meath at the mo, and the first band of red blobs moving down resulted in absolutely nothing at all as it apparently moved over.

Anyone notice during the report during the news the reporter said Met Eireann do not expect the cold spell to last into next week? Yet the Outlook on Met.ie says "It will remain cold over the weekend and well into next week".

Same effect here, the red seems to be out of sync with the map, maybe 30 or 40 miles too far south...just my take. Afew very fine flakes blowing in gently here, but you'd only notice them if you are lampost watching ;) Weather nerds know all about that lol....:D

Maybe their forecasters are like us ;) looking at different computer models and taking a different scenario on each? That shouldn't be the case though...

I'm zoomed in tight, so the blob might not look so mega on a nationwide view. But it does show it should be snowing in Navan now....

Looking at radar, would be expecting more widespread snow reports?
