I dont know if this is necessarily the right forum to post but here goes anyway. Does anybody here have a character they've drawn that they'd like to see modelled in 3d and brought to life?

Over the past year Ive been learning quite a bit about 3d modelling and rendering. Im using Maya which is pretty much the industry standard and used in countless hollywood movies these days. I wouldnt class myself as amazing yet but I think Im very much competant and I thought Id set myself a challenge.

Basically what Im looking for is a character (any style considered) that you've drawn. Id need a front and side profile and if possible any other angles would be helpful. Id just like something fun to try to model and thought some artists on here may appreciate the chance to have one of their own characters brought to life.

If anybodies interested drop me a pm on here or else reply to the thread and we can arrange it from there. By the way I wouldnt be posting the images online or using them for any other purpose other then just a personal project/challenge for myself and then of course the artist can use the renders/images however they choose.

    Cheers folks,

    Dave

If you don't get a response here, check out the illustration forum on creative ireland. There's some great illustrators there:

Hehe yep its a bit of an odd one I guess. Its not so much of looking for something that I "need" as there tons of character blueprints on the net, even a quick google image search turned up plenty. I just thought it'd be a nice thing to do for somebody. A lot of artists wouldnt get a chance to see their characters brought to life in 3d. Once Ive modelled it I could animate it walking down Grafton Street, interacting with people etc of course all with the artists permission. If nobodies interested its no probs Ill just use a random character from the net but on the offchance anybody around here is interested give me a shout.

    Cheers,

    Dave

It's hard to guage where this belongs, really. Neither Graphics nor Animation is all that suiting, nor is DA&D (though it's likely to contain posters who DO work on such things you're after).

I'll leave it here for the time being, anyhow. You never know, someone might pop along with exactly what you need.

We need a 3d modelling and rendering sub forum, though traffic would be very light I reckon
