Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Evra or Cole.

    I'd probably pick Evra.

Figueroa tbh, and not just cause of that goal. He's been class.

    Poll?

Cashley Cole is really proving his worth this season. He is just ahead of Evra for me. And there is nobody else even close to those two.

Decent shout, was great under Steve Bruce. It's gotta be Evra though.

    GTFO

A Poll makes it feel more official and everything.

Also putting up a full list is probably fairer to players at lower profile clubs.

    Huzzah Poll:D

    I am over-delighted.:D

    Try again

EDIT: Gareth Bale? GARETH BALE?! Winner of a grand total of one match?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,957 ✭✭✭The Volt

I know he's the obvious choice but I can't think of anyone who was as consistent this year as Ashley Cole.

    Apologies
    I am mollified.

Lulz for the comedy Kilbane vote.

Can see this being slightly predictable but needs must.

Big question though is is a 4-4-2 formation we are going with? Might be some issues with some player's positions.

I can put up a formation poll if people want?

Don't know if it's necessary but can see some players possibly debate i.e. Gerrard, Rooney, Arshavin. Anyone in a brighter thinking place than me this afternoon?

Don't think tis too much of a worry with the defence, I'd assume everyone would be fine with a back four, just further up the field.
    Is it 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 4-3-3
I think the offical teams of the year are nearly all 4-4-2 but seems kinda redundant/strange when so many teams don't play an orthodox version of it.

True that. Or if anyone has any other suggestions as to how we should push this forward I don't mind!

Forgot about Konchesky, he's been quality for Fulham methinks. Still voted for Cole though.

Evra for me every time. He along with Giggs have got United where they are this season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,952 ✭✭✭Morzadec

    A. Cole is a class above the rest imo, although when on form Evra would push him close.

Dunno why everyone seems to be saying that this is a forgone conclusion, in the Boards.ie World XI poll in the summer Evra beat Cole to the Left-Back spot very comfortably. There are a lot of Untied fans on Boards remember.

It will be interesting if the last few months have changed some minds and Cole takes the LB spot...

As someone who was saying it was a foregone conclusion, I think it's Cole's sheer consistency over the last year that tips the favour in his balance.
Dislikable and all as he is, he just hasn't had any lapses in form over the year.

Also when I made my comment it was 8 votes to Cole and 1 vote to Kilbane, so was looking a bit landslide-ish based on the first 9 votes.

A.Cole for me. Just been consistently brilliant for us and this season is chipping in with more goals and assists. :)

Kilbane for world footballer of the year and if possible a lifetime achievement award and sexiest man in football.

    That is all.

Kills me whenever I see it but doesn't appear to be on the internet :(

2 of the best left-backs in the world in Cole and Evra and really its hard to separate. I have never seen Evra playing better than this season but slight preference is for Cole.

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 15,001 ✭✭✭✭Pepe LeFrits

The sight of him still makes me feel ill but I voted for him all the same. Although I can't stand Evra either so it wasn't too difficult to overcome my distain.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,838 ✭✭✭✭3hn2givr7mx1sc

Evra and Cole are the same or very close in terms of quality.
Cole is an arrogant so and so and he cheated on Cheryl Cole.
    cheryl-cole.jpg

How could ya cheat on that?
    I voted Evra.:p

Evra for me, he gets me more excited when he gets his attacking boots on and for a short guy, he can surely jump high! Never ceases to amaze me how he gets above some players to win a header...

    A. Cole is a very close second though...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,454 ✭✭✭mink_man

surely 2009 is from last january, not just august...evra was the best in 2009...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,454 ✭✭✭mink_man

and is there any need to put players in the poll that sre defo not int he running like kilbane or bale??
just leads to people pickin them for the craic.

    Went for Evra.

Not the PL but what a ball from Kilbane to Duff for Keane's goal in Paris.

Much as it pains me to say it, Cole has been the best left back this season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 298 ✭✭Kenteach

Cole. COmfortably enough in my opinion. He was on my list of 'so over-rated' for years, but is up there with the best in the world for the last year at least.

And as for cheating in Cheryl, as the old saying goes; no matter how hot she is, how sexy she is, somebody somewhere is sick of her sh!t.
