Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thats the most likely Liverpool team from what I've seen of them but against a team like Portsmouth I'd use a totally different set up, its hard to beat them with one up top even with that being Torres.
Blackburn were 1-0 down to them at halftime, we switched to 3 up top in the second half and gave our full backs license to get forward and we ran riot scoring 3 goals and it could have been a whole lot more.
Its the one thing I don't like about Benitez, imo he should be going out to trounce these teams, there is always the likleyhood with that lineup of a draw. Every team will feel they have a chance against Liverpool with that formation.

I'm actually not that concerned about Doss being on the wing, he's always impressed me out there his attacking play was never a problem its just when it comes to defending he's an absolute turkey.

Jamie Carragher is making his 600th appearance for Liverpool today and Jeff Stelling on Sky Sports just came up with one of the great stats of modern times: Carragher helped the Reds keep clean sheets on his 100th, 200th, 300th, 400th and 500th appearances for the club. I had to *borrow* it - it deserves the widest audience possible.

I had to borrow it to!

Ain't nothing wrong with Insua. The man is godlike.

    ?

    Do you mean Buddha ?

Apart from the fact that he's too slow, gets caught out of position regularly and fails to stop opposition wingers 9 times out of 10 I suppose he's alright.

why did they even bother with a changed strip. red and blue dont exactly clash like

Being slow is nothing. He is only learning and he is learning at the top give him a chance.

Both teams would have red socks, easier for the ref is the only explanation i can think of.

All the football being played in Pompeys half and Liverpool looking in complete control so far,

    I'll say 3-2 Portsmouth

How many times has Dossena lost possession ?

liverpool performing very well so far without creating too much clear cut; just a couple of sighters.

    portsmouth look very poor.

roll on the 2-1 win for pompey.

At the time of creation it was correct.

Not of the skysports generation either.

Portsmouth do indeed look poor, their biggest threat is Jamie O'haras free kicks. I think we will win 2-0 today touch wood, only a matter of time before our possession is turned into goals.

I am fairly confident you are wrong now though, still don't let the facts get in the way of a bit of a dig.

BTW it is not only what you are numbered at that makes you of a generation.

    From the BBC

By the way, a goal for the magnificent Fernando Torres today would be his 50th in the Premier League for Liverpool - in just his 70th appearance and 61st start. What a record that is. He'd become the fastest to reach 50 in the league for the Reds, beating Sam Raybould (1902) and Albert Stubbins (1949) by a full 10 games.

He really is one hell of a striker.

    lolzzzzzzz

    get in there

    what a goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

The more I think about this, the more crazy it seems to me.

Playing 2 holding midfielders AND two left backs, one on front of the other on the left wing against the bottom team in the league.

Liverpool only really have 3 goal scorers on the pitch, one of whom is dreadfully off form.

    Why not play this ?

    Torres---N'Gog

    Yossi
    Gerrard--Masch
    Kuyt

    Way too early for that.

Plenty of gametime left for Liverpool to turn thios one around.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,129 ✭✭✭therokerroar

    Gerrin! :D

Reina should have done better though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,604 ✭✭✭Kev_ps3

Think Pompy need 1 more to get anything from this game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

What a bloody strike, how did he get it in from there!??

Lads, whats up with Gerrard? Has he been carrying an injury? Doesnt look that interested today - has lost possession a couple of times and hasnt shown any drive to win it back like he usually does. Not looking his usual self today so far anyway. Mind you, it does look bloody freezing :o

My stream died the moment before the strike :( I assumed the worst.

what's your definition of a holding midfielder? Because Lucas isn't one, he's just a central midfielder

2 people to blame for me in that goal Johnson and Reina

goalie of his quality shouldnt be beaten on the near post like that

Ok, hes a central midfielder but he doesnt score or create goals.
