Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I signed up to the 3cover. Have a look at your policy documents when you get them, the exclusions make the policy pretty much pointless unless your at home and get robbed by a ninja who forces his way in.
    Exclusions
    The Insurer shall not be liable for;
    1. Theft of the Equipment from any unattended vehicle unless all windows are closed all doors are securely locked all security devices are activated and the Equipment is concealed from view in a locked glove compartment locked boot or locked load area.
    2. Theft of the Equipment from any premises or mode of transport unless involving forcible and violent entry or exit.
    3. Accidental Loss or Theft of the Equipment whilst left Unattended when it is away from your home.
    4. repair or replacement arising as a result of negligent use wilful abuse or misuse.
    5. Any and all repair costs or charges arising from mechanical and/or electrical breakdown.
    6. Damage to the battery or aerial or any cosmetic damage.
    7. The cost of replacing or repairing accessories or costs arising from the use of accessories unless on a 12 or 18 month contract.
    8. The cost of routine inspection service adjustment or cleaning resulting in accidental damage.
    9. Damage caused during installation or removal.
    10. Any amount recoverable under any guarantee warranty or other insurance.
    11. Repairs carried out by persons not authorised by Us.
    12. The policy excess as detailed below.
    13. The cost of replacing any stored data including but not limited to tunes songs personalised ring tones pictures films or graphics.
    14. Any damage or fault caused by any form of electronic virus. For the purpose of this Exclusion, a virus includes Trojan horses, worms, logic bombs or any other program or software which prevents any Equipment operating system software or content download working properly in any way.
    15. Airtime Abuse where the time period from discovery of the Theft or Accidental Loss to it being reported to 3 is no longer than 24 hours.
Sent an enquiry about leaving the phone behind in a clients office or it being stolen from my place of work and got this response.
    Thank you for your email.

As per your terms and conditions, I can confirm that we do not cover your handset if it is left unattended and if there is no forcible entry or exit into the premises or mode of transport where the phone was placed.

Please note that if you are not happy with our terms and conditions of our policy and would like to cancel the policy, you cancel the direct at the bank or put it in writing. You have got 3 months free insurance on your policy at the moment.

    Thanks

    Kind Regards

Fonesure is a trading style of Pier Insurance Managed Services Ltd.

So Question is what's the point paying 9 euro a month to not actually be covered for what it says your covered for.

More to the point: How can you have Accidental Loss of the phone WITHOUT having left it Unattended when it is away from your home.

To be honest though, those terms and conditions don't seem to really put a stop to much. They basically say that if you break it on purpose, they won't fix it, if you do something stupid like leave it at a bus stop on Abby Street expecting it to still be there when you get back from work, they won't fix it. It seems they will still fix it if you get mugged or you manage to smash it by dropping it, which is what most people would sign up to it for.

Putting it on the house insurance has ridden costs and downsides: putting it on your house insurance costs around €50 pa for specified all risks. That means loss or damage outside the house. However, aside from the excess of around €70 PLUS loss of your No Claims Bonus on renewal, there seems to be a painful process for repair with delays for form filling and authorisation. Anybody go down this route for repairs?

My advice would be to stay away from 3 cover-ran by pier insurance- real shower of cowboys altogether.. Check out threads on Pier- please go with anyone else!!
    They are an absolute nightmare😰

Vodafones insurance at 10e a month is a rip off if you ask me. I'm usually good enough to mind phones so if didn't get the insurance, would apple or vodafone cover me in any way shape or form if there was a technical issue with the phone say in the first few months? or is it just tough s**t for me?? Half thinking of taking the chance!!

Anyone have any dealings with mobilecover.ie?

I never insure my iPhone. Have had 3 in the last four years. Sold on each one and upgraded. Am amazed at how many people do this. I always think of the theme tune to Laurel and Hardy when I meet someone who insures their phone.

Are you on a contract? What if you lose the phone at the beginning of the contract?? The phone company will still want to be paid even though you dont have a phone anymore!

Insurance is a rip off IMO. Just be careful with the phone and save yourself a fortune

Yes I have and stay as far away from them as possible you will just be ripped off, no matter what happens they will shift the blame to you and that's it.... no cover

I recommend to stay away from pier insurance. I was paying monthly for nearly two years then when I had things wrong they wouldn't fix them. They said you have to report damage within 48 hours. One of my problems with my iPhone was battery dying which happened since upgrading so the problem was getting progressively worse. They don't communicate this very well. They just don't want to pay out.

It's probably cheaper to get the battery replaced out of your own pocket than pay the excess for the ins co to do it
