Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

^^ I hate this crap. If you have nothing to say - Then don't say it.
That wrecks my bulb to. It wasnt funny the first time so why do it a million times. Seems to be a generic response to get the posters post count up.

Spammers are my personal hatred. I despise them.
Posters who persist in angry PM conversations with me about every little thing. The only part of me that's super human is my liver and that's only got a few years left so cut the mods some slack.
+1, yore ma and all that crap.
Anyone who uses phrases like "PC gone mad" incorrectly or mentions pinkos, lefties, liberals, bleeding hearts etc.
Religious debate. Stop talking about it. You are not going to convince each other.
Discussions about the future of boards.
Discussions about how boards was better in the old days.
People looking to get offended by absolutely every and any thing.
    Gimmick posters.
    Re-regges.
The fact that Celeb and showbiz and TV is under arts.
People who don't ever admit they're wrong.
    Keyboard warriors.
    Goats cheese. Ick.

Oooh touch of burnout there Doc.

What about the weekly "if only we could get drugs legalised wouldnt it be the answer to all the worlds problems/downfall of humanity and all we hold dear" thread :)

I believe this week it's plant fertilizer. And the abortion debates. Got to love them too.

The general lack of reading comprehension here. Too many posters react to something that was not said, or fail to notice what was said, in a previous post. It might help to remember that you're almost always talking to total strangers here, and so "reading between the lines" is going to drop you in it, sooner or later.

When somebody posts a long post and then the next poster quotes all of it and does +1 or a one line sentance. I scrolled through all that for nothing!
If you post immediately after somone you don't have to quote them.

Posters went to Whelans last night in town , I know several pubs named that and more towns then most.

Or posters who put spaces and then a full stop after their post.

No taking digs at other, specific posters.

Yes - and that's nothing new, it's been "netiquette" for years now. The general rules I remember go something like this:
    • quote what you're replying to, and reply to what you're quoting. If you're not replying to part of a post, then don't quote that part. (See what I did above?).
    • Split it up: quote, reply, quote, reply, etc. (See below: this is actually harder here on the Boards because of the way the quoting system works.)
    • Last, but not least: post more than you quote. Not foolproof, but a good start.

This seems to be a specifically Irish thing - navigating by pub. I've had a doctor send me for an X-Ray, telling me that the radiology clinic was next to a certain pub.

Might be something to do with the lack of a postcode system and/or consistent system of standard addresses?

    Gimmick posters.

    damn right!
People looking to get offended by absolutely every and any thing.

    Just..... leave me alone!

Religious debate. Stop talking about it. You are not going to convince each other.

Also this. And why do people bother quoting the bible/their favourite anti-religion quote in their sig?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,306 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

Writing a long thread about how much of an ar*ehole some poster is, and when I click the "submit reply" thread, I find it's locked, as the mod also didn't like the ar*ehole's answer.

The excessive censoring of medical advice!

Seen a girl get banned for a while because she started a post informing people about an MS conference in Leopardstown or somewhere!
Mod treated her like a criminal.

Overuse 'facepalm' and/or the Picard facepalm pic.
    Overuse of lolcats.

When a posters posts a comment that is somewhat meaninless or stupid, and get's like a ton of thanks.

People make comments just for thanks.

people who claim to be an expert on a topic in a debate, just because it makes them feel superior to the other posters. It dosen't really, it just makes you look like an egotistical twat.

    Religous threads, nuff said.

People who post just for the sake of posting something negative about the OP and his topic, because they feel they'll get thanks for making the OP look like a fool.

People who look for the smallest most irrelevant thing on a person's post, and then criticise them over it.

I dislike when whole threads are made up of puns related to the original post.
Puns gets old after a while, particularly when they outnumber actual responses.

And what's with all this IBTL carry on. There's nothing stupider than seeing IBTL on the third or fourth post of a thread that now has 7 pages. (Although I'm probably guilty of that myself :))

Don't you hate it when you put a post on the thread. Then nobody else posts anything else on the thread so it looks like you've killed the conversation.

It annoys me when a serious thread is started here and half of the first page is just a load of replies saying "this shouldn't be in AH"; "were you expecting a serious answer?"

Fuck off with that shite.. After Hours has had plenty of very successful debates/discussions on mature topics, replies like that just irritate me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 277 ✭✭Saltour Sossiez

The feminists who, not matter what the post, get numerous 'thanks'.

Same goes for some mods who think they're funny. You get the usual ****, unfunny response from one of the mods and they end up getting thanked by everyone. Not forgetting the sheep who click on that thumb.

The people who make excuses and defend the scumbag Nigerians and Romanians leeching off and conning the state of course. Leftist *****.

I'm a member of alot of different forum sites, and am not too active on any of them, and the thing that i hate more than anything is people that get to technical with details, rules etc. I read forums daily, but am abit shy about posting and when i occasionally build up the confidence to post i get hammered by some troll about some mistake in my post or that i'm braking some obscure nonsense rule. So for me, it's the general feeling of hostility or snobbishness i get when reading forums.
