Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Fulham_FC.svg VS Man_Utd_FC_.svg

    Setanta Sports 1
    Kick off: 3.00pm

Should be a good game methinks, will be a tough one for Utd.

My starting 11 (I have no idea who's injured still...)

    --- De Laet - Brown - Vidic - Evra ---

    Valencia -- Fletcher -- Ando -- Obertan

    Berba
    Rooney

Not sure if Vidic will start, so might see Carrick in there instead. Doubtful that Obertan will start, but I'd like him to.

No idea about the Fullham line up!

I think this is going to be nitty gritty match but I think we'll get a good result from it...
What is up with our defenders?! Dropping like flies they are...

Could be some coup for Fulham. United's defence is in sh*t >_<

predicting a 1-1 draw for this game. Fulham are very good at home, and United will be shakey at the back, with a backline of probably Fletcher - Carrick - Vidic - Evra; and that is only if VIdic trained yesterday as he is a doubt.

Really wish we had a right back available (Raf is back in training, but won't be available until next week according to Fergie) as it currently means we have to play Fletcher there, and we are really missing his running and energy in midfield.

Not sure how the team will line up today.

Back five will pretty much pick itself I feel.

    Kuszczak

    Fletcher - Carrick - Vidic - Evra

Though we could see De Laet come in at right back with Fletcher moving into midfield.

I expect to see Park and Valencia on the wings, but the central of midfield is a mystery for me. I would imagine Anderson will be in there, but then I don't know who will partner him - could be Gibbo than either Scholes or Giggs (Giggs if he is fit) with Rooney up top on his own. We could also play Berbs up top with Rooney, but then I don't know who will partner Anderson in the middle. My money is on a 5 man midfield with Rooney up on his own, in order to protect the backline.

Looks like De Laet is gonna start..

Although it mentions him starting as CB if Vidic isn't fit.

Predicting a Fulham win in this now.

That United defence simply won't be good enough. I think the balance in midfield will be crap as well. No proper left winger there, and Anderson never does well there. One alternative is Rooney playing on the left, like he has done before.

Regardless, I can't see that United side winning today - simply too weak at the back.

I'm hoping that's the position he plays in for Belgium? Don't think he's played there for us before.

EDIT: Ugh at the lineup. But nice to see Owen starting:)

Maybe Fergie is resurrecting the old 2-6-2 formation.

Well yeah I am negative, that is well known.

However, i don't see a problem with what I have written today.

We are playing 2 central midfielders, and a guy who is a rubbish CB at reserve team level, in our defence and have no left winger on the pitch. the balance and composition of the side is poor. Due to injuries, but it remains poor and I don't think it will be good enough against a Fulham side who would cause our first choice side problems.

If we don't contain Zamora he will ruin riot.

Both teams will score imo, United will score more. 1 - 2.

    lol

i just saw who's on the bench

    ill say no more :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 363 ✭✭Locamon

I think utd have enough to do it... slipping up to Villa will provide some motivation -the problem at the back is less of an issue if Berba is gonna miss sitters.. maybe being on the bench will give him some motivation when he comes on!?

With Hull(A), Wigan(H), Birmingham(A), Burnley(H), Hull(H) before meeting Arsenal(A) Fergie has got to be looking at today as a big test before the start of a run to put some real pressure on Chelsea. That said a trip Birmingham is starting to look equally tricky.

I give it until the 60th minute for you to be going nuts because he is still on the bench.

yep can't see how he gets on the pitch ahead of Obertan, Bebratov, and Wellbeck. Even Park would probably get on ahead of him.

This is going to be a bloody tough game, bloody tough.

If we can get through this spell and stick close to Chelsea by Christmas, once we get everyone back I think we've got a real shot. These are the testing times for a squad which we need to come through.

Come on Anderson, the game is made for you to make an impact today.

Depends where he is playing - if it is on the left I don't expect much from him as he has never impressed there. If he is in the centre (and I can't see it given Scholes and Gibbo are playing) then we will need one of his better performances, and it is the type of game and situation that could cement his place.

Setanta commentator just mentioned this, could it be possible we're lining up like this?:

    PIG

    Carrick-Fletcher-De Laet
    -Valencia
    Evra-
    Scholes-Gibson-Anderson

    Rooney-Owen

Swap Carrick and Fletcher and it certainly looks that way.

Maybe the idea is that Fulham attack mainly through the middle so keep that tight with 3 center backs, and three midfielders.

Hope Evra and Valencia can control the wings and try push Fulham back as much as possible.

That's Gibson's mandatory howler out of the way, he'll score with the next one.

ah now it normally takes him two or three to start hitting the target.

For every Figuero theres 10 misses - only 8 before Gibson gets one now :D

84 minutes is a long time for Scholes to go without getting booked.
