Seems that the border will allow plenty of shoppers through one way, but won't let snow through the other way! Look at the airport METARS...the three NI ones are the only ones to have snow!

And the TAFs show the same! Heavy snow showers for Belfast (+SHSN=Heavy SHowers of SNow), but Knock, Donegal, Kerry and Galway show some promise down south

well, the ones in Sligo are doing nothing at all, no snow , no rain, no nothing.
According to raintoday there seems to be some snow on mountains, but nothing below.

I'd say those greedy, snow-hugging feckers in Longford are going to get it all again :D

correction, it's actually drizzling here now ...rain

Im just south of you mate in Ballinrobe and was about to say those showers must be around castlebar/westport by now, should be with me in about 30 mins?

Just started snowing here, the start of the first "front" to move through!! Be interesting to see how far south this gets.

Edit: Sorry, forgot to add I'm near Enniskillen!

Maybe Sky news weather at 8.58 will tell us something more.

Just taken a walk down the hill to the road. Its currently like glass and the big kid in me had a great time trying to run and get a bit of speed up to slide along :D Great fun :D

Now, I wonder if a baking tray might be missed from the kitchen drawer (the drive down to the road looks very tempting...;)) If I don't post further updates you'll know what happened:D

Nacho, are you seeing anything yet? please tell there is some snow up there as that batch of showers might just sustain as they head down this way:

What are the odds of snow in Cork? If the roads are icy or snowy, I have no school tomorrow!

Any snow for Galway City forecast? Where in S.E Mayo is it snowing??

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,580 ✭✭✭kingshankly

Just after driving a train from Dublin to Belfast and back. Absoloutly no snow until a few miles south of newry where it is very light and it gradually get worse the whole way to Belfast where there is at least a couple of inches. Never encountered any falling snow what so ever. There are so very dodgy looking roads both north and south. Would advise against any unnecessary journeys.
Great reading this by the way folks I am amazed by how some people know so much about weather,Keep up the good work
