Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Starting time is between 3.30 and 4.30 and go on for a couple of hours depending on the weather I assume.

I'll be breaking away from the group about 20 miutes before dark and I'll be back about 30 mins after dark. There's a few nice ponds up there with ducks flighting in at dark. Wouldn't want to waste a shooting opportunity :D

So do we know yet who is in charge of what, i.e. is someone in partilcuar happy to show how to do what??? I have my own ways of doing things but I doubt they are the technically correct ways bearing in mind I only started using multiple flashes recently and dont do it often, surely there is someone attending who knows the best ways to get the best results.

Maybe get a half definite list going?

    Is Kazujo still going?

I hope to make it along to this. I've been to a couple of Strobist meets so I should be able to answer some questions.

I have two flashes, brollies, light stands and radio triggers.

Another thing to bring is torches they will help with focusing and also when looking for stuff in your bag, they can also be used for light painting :D

OK so can we do a role call??? Even if we dont have someone highly experienced we may be able to help each other out. I used multi flashes whilst doing an album shoot, my favourite part was creating shadows although I did have to set up similar to studio settings in various locations for correct lighting also, I have a bit of an idea but I dont speak in technical terms. I am more of a try and learn. We could use it as more of a practice outing, anyone else have knowledge of this sort of thing that can help out and will come?

    I'm still good to go.
Have all the gear, just need a clue on how to use it ;)

Kit: 5DmkII + 580EXII + flash cord + Reflector + Stofen diffuser & lots of other little bits n bobs

    Still hoping to make it.
Will be bringing my modern gear as it has no consumables (flash bulbs).

Not sure how I will be getting there. Anyone driving from the southside have a spare seat?:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,337 ✭✭✭positivenote

im going as a total novice learners who hasnt used a flash before but got one off of santy :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,718 ✭✭✭.Longshanks.

Does anybody know the area well???

Im in two minds to either drive into the city and park in the area (pay and display area? Carparks?) or get the luas in from the red cow and walk from heuston station (alone in dark on way back with a bag full of camera gear)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭smelltheglove

I know it fairly ok. Parking is fine dont worry about that at all!

Sling I'm coming from Lucan if it's any use to you.

Thanks - but is it pay and display? Don't wanna have to get back to the car a few times to top a meter when the park & ride from luas might be handier

Thanks Glove, but sadly no help there. I'm in the Milltown/Ranelagh area.
    Was hoping to avoid the...

    :o

    Something that might affect parking/access.
New order in court as €140m legal 'Pantheon' opens doors
    and the
Protest at opening of new Criminal Courts of Justice
,more people than normal in the area and such.

Hmmm....thanks for that. Knew nothing about protest & don't fancy tripping about camera gear in dark by using the luas

Not sure about pay and display at city end but free parking everywhere else.

The meeting point is near the chapelizod mountsackville gate am I right? Free parking there.

Sling I can pick you up at the station if you like.

Hey wait, so meet time is...?

No, it's the Islandbridge Gate but you can't enter there. You have to come at it from either the Chapelizod gate and take the first right and drive along the windy road parallel to the Chapelizod Road. Alternatively you get there from the main road roundabout, down past the Monument heading for the Islandbridge gate.

I am right aren't I? Or am I misreading the google map?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭smelltheglove

Lol I was asking too cos I'm not great with directions. There's a nice lake down by the gate I mentioned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,718 ✭✭✭.Longshanks.

You's have me all confused now!! I'm going to do my very best to make this and plan to be there about 3.45-4pm as per the first post. I'll be heading exactly for the place the arrow marks out in the google map (i'm good at directions :D) and hopefully sort whatever locations out after that
