NRA are obviously not maintaining these so hard to find info.

Can anyone confirm any plans for upgrades of R roads up and down the country?

All I know about is that there are plans in the County Wicklow Draft Development Plan 2010-2016 (http://tinyurl.com/yhjcbrr) for upgrading a number of R roads in the county including the Sally Gap and Wicklow Gap roads, which should be fun what with the protected status of the Wicklow Mountains National Park and all.

The R336 project in Galway is a large one, about 5km(posibly 15km) of D2 of some sort depending on whether the western end of the Galway Bypass is chucked into this project and 20-25km of S2 too. Lots of overbridges.

    All through granite :D

R498 Nenagh to Thurles road is to get upgrades near Borrisleigh. This is a busy R road.

The Coonagh to Moyross distrubuter road which will be going ahead in stages will be an R road aswell.
